Hey Guys

I currently have a problem with Cool Ideas. Basically Cool Ideas increased the Fibre price without notifying me as per the T&C's. I then contacted them to cancel my Fibre on the 3rd of March but they claim the Fire Line (Openserve) requires a calendar month's notice so my contract will only end on 30 April not the end of March.

1. I am not moving away from open serve just from Cool Ideas
2. How can the consumer bear the burden since it was the ISP who broke the T&S's.

Any recommendation on how I can move forward as I am having no luck with the Cool Ideas accounts department? Not such a big financial implication but more the principle.

    • Fee Increases
The Customer acknowledges and agrees that Cool Ideas will be entitled, on 30 days’ written notice to the Customer, to increase the Fees payable by the customer in circumstances of the direct costs to Cool Ideas in providing the Services (including, without limitation, the charges charged by the network provider(s) in respect of such services) being increased. The increases to the Fees shall be commensurate with the increased costs of providing the Services.

"In addition to any other cancellation rights which the Customer may have in these Conditions, the Customer may cancel the Services at any time provided that they provide Cool Ideas with one full calendar month’s notification – in such circumstances, the Services will be cancelled with effect from the last day of the month during which the 30 day notice period expires. "

The same day this article was posted an email was sent out indicating the price increases.

I was with CISP and can confirm I received an email from them in January that their prices were increasing.

All customers were emailed as per the listed email contact with that product, if we cant provide you with proof the email was sent to you then we will give you the existing rate for another month to not breach the Ts and Cs.

What was the increase, as the CEO of RocketNet I can promise you the margins we as an ISP are making are very "thin".

Openserve are the ones that are "milking it", they chrage ridiculous amounts of money for bandwidth, they are around 25 times more expensive than the other FNO's.

Increase was from R 499 to R 599, 20% is a massive jump

Was R100 for the 10mb line. MTS is R460 for exactly the same thing.
As mentioned previously even with the increase the service is still sold at a loss and anyone selling at the same price or less is also selling at a loss, IPC cuts should come into place at the end of this Month which is Openserves financial year end.

But considering the job cuts etc we don't have much faith in a massive change also along with the current state of the economy.

Increasing pricing is not something we want to do believe me, should there be a drastic drop in IPC we will happily pass it on to our customers.
