Ok, so why do I need to go through the whole verification process on the phone if at the end I just get mailed a blank form that I have to fill in?
FFS I just spelled it all out, why should i have to fill it in again? Not only that but I have to send them a personalized little letter on my letterhead in addition to their form! WTF for?

On top of that they have "REASON FOR TERMINATION *" as a required field! WTF! Now I have to justify why I want to cancel my account!

Why is everyone cancelling their MWEB account? I am quite n00by and am on MWEB uncapped. Is it k4k?

Eks nog baie gelukkig met my mweb, maar as ek die sien op vorms van ander mense:

On top of that they have "REASON FOR TERMINATION *" as a required field! WTF! Now I have to justify why I want to cancel my account!

dan raak ek moerig.

Gewoonlik skryf ek sommer in: "want dit laat my gelukkiger voel" :D

Hi Madman,

To answer your questions, the reason why we require the written confirmation is to follow our policy and procedure. When it comes to a personal account, a letterhead isn't required, that is only for Businesses.

We always strive to improve therefore we have that section 'reason for termination', in order for us to keep improving as an ISP.

In closing, is there anything I can do to retain you as a Mweb customer?

Regards,
MWEB Guy

It is a business account, why should that be any different from a personal one. Its just as annoying..
Edit : Sorry I'm not done. Why not just make the form available for download via the customer service area on the website? OR if you want me to phone in, speak to the first person and tell them why I want to cancel, then to another in in the cancellations department tell them why I want to cancel, at least send me a populated form to sign.

Thanks for the reply tho :)

No, I have never had a problem with them except that I use it for work purposes during business hours and although it says its for small offices, I find the speed to be a bit lacking sometimes, I'm sure its acceptable after hours but that does me no good. Being uncapped I'm sure that it has a lower priority than the capped accounts. That coupled with the fact that I am not using as much bandwidth as I thought just made it a good business decision for me to cancel the Uncapped account and increase the cap on my backup account.

The only thing that annoyed me was the cancellation procedure.

In truth you don't have to follow their procedures fully apart from the date. A simple letter of termination in your own hand with confirmation of delivery will do nicely. Let them argue differently.

Could someone who has received the cancellation forms please forward them to me.

I have contacted the call center, sent 2 emails and contacted MWEB Guy but have still not got the forms!

As I said to you, you do not need a form to cancel anything. That's just their own preference. Just mail them, then ring to confirm, make a note of who you spoke to and that's it.

Hi BrianB

I have sent a follow up request to the management of the relevant department, to assist with your query. You should be contacted by the relevant department in due course.

Please keep me informed of the progress on your query.

Kind regards,
MWEB Guy

This 'form' thing seems to be a deterrent to cancel, Mwebguy. Still up to tricks at Mweb?

It does, I still have not got the forms and those emails were sent yesterday. I bet if I had requested application forms, I would have received them.

I actually think it is a good thing that they have a reason for termination field. If only more companies cared about why you are cancelling.

Yea, I would not have had a problem except that I had already explained my reasons to two different people on the phone.
