Cancelling Vitality is a mess. There is no direct number, you have to call through the Discovery call-centre.

I only had vitality because they said it lowers your life premium as well as the Gym benefit.

I no longer go to the Gym so I tried cancelling it.

First, it seems there are few consultants who handle cancellations. I say this because you wait a very long time on hold if you are cancelling than if you are joining. I tried to call yesterday, and when I finally got through I was told it was outside working hours of the cancellation department.

I then got through today and the first consultant who answers verified my details and then transferred me to a "Retentions" department. They tried to sell me the whole benefits of Vitality and I just told them FU, cancel the damn thing.

Here is a screenshot of the calls and total durations.
771632

The icing on the cake was that they said it takes 30 days to get it off the system so it will only be effective end of February 2020.

Vitality is the proverbial "Easy to get in, hard to get out!"

Tip: If you want to cancel, have your ID Number / Membership number, Status, Year you joined and the number of dependents on your vitality ready. They will ask it for verification.

Lol, I also tried to cancel and got suckered into staying by the retentions uncle.

Bumping this thread to say the process to cancel vitality went smoothly for me. Took five minutes by phone.

What was the process?

Im completely peeved off by their intentional ambiguity about their Nike benefits.
You can only get one item every 25 weeks if you plan on maximising your discount... wtf.

Cancelled my gym membership since the Virgin in EL is beyond pathetic, I joined a private gym instead. Hard to justify forking out R300 a month for stuff like smoothies that you can just pay cash anyway if you wanted one. They're also constantly making changes to catch you at every corner, even for someone like myself that generates 1200 points a week. Already achieved Diamond by June and reached the annual cap of 58340 points, no further incentive to earn more than needed at this point.

Found this thread because I'm trying to cancel and can't find much on their website (generally crap website).

Love how they give you an email address for sales, but - for any other queries, complaints or cancellations - you have to call them at your cost.

I did, and got put on hold while they transferred me. 4min and I hung up.

I am however getting it done via facebook messenger.

Don't think we're going to get any worth out of it next year, R500pm, and it looks like we drop from Diamond to Silver.

I also cancelled mine. Not getting any worth out of it currently and won't for the foreseeable future so no point in paying for it.

Came to this thread because I could not find any cancellation info on their website. Called the call center and the call dropped after waiting a few minutes.

Sent a mail to the above address now so thanx for that! hope it works.

Update : The email address does not work anymore.

Typing chat gets you to an actual agent. They seem to have the correct number to call for cancellation.

i get the R300 monthly back easily on healthy food purchases....

then i still benefit from the reduced VA fee - i use the gym atleast 5 days a week
then i still benefit from the weekly play and discovery miles earn

also used the nike benifit to purchase a R2000 training shoe that cost me R1000
also redemeed a bunch of total sports vouchers worth over R1000
also watch a movie every so often and get the discounted tickets etc

i think to get the value out of it you really need to be diligent in making use of the offers

That's the thing though - you have to use it - and to maintain the status became too much of sclep for us, we went from Diamond to Silver end of last year. Hence the cancellation.

(My wife maxed out her fitness points, mine hardly ever registered on their side, and I gave up trying).

Then I loose points constantly because of BMI - which is a BS measurement.

The healthy food amount is never as much as the monthly fee for Vitality. Most of the offers are pointless. Basically spending money on things we wouldn't buy otherwise to get a discount.
