**** Cancer

my father had cancer.

turns out there was a misdiagnosis - he was initially diagnosed to have either a peptic or duodenal ulcer (i dont remember which).
then 2 yrs later my folks are in holiday in monaco - father collapses in the street and taken off to hospital.
following day in hospital, doc tells my parents to return home immediately - in the interim he will send a referral to my father's doctor.
folks return home, father goes to gp.
gp refers to an oncologist. oncologists does a whole lot of scans and tests.
oncologist looks at results and tells my father she recommends exploratory surgery before embarking on any course of treatment.
2 days later father is in surgery (should take an hour or so).
within 20 minutes, surgeon abandons surgery.
surgeon tells me had he attempted to go any further, he probably will have killed my father on the table.
cancer was inoperable and extensive - any form of treatment would be futile, the only form of intervention at that point would be pain management.
i ask the surgeon how long does my father have to live - he tells me "it's impossible to predict, but in his experience, about 6 weeks".
6 weeks later (give a day or two), my father closed his eyes on the world.

moral of the story here is diagnosis & 2nd opinion - even 3rd if doubts remain.
then commencement of treatment asap
I am really sorry for your loss(es). The problem with cancer is that it often misdiagnosed or caugth too late. Mom in law had been clear for more than 10 years - but it came back and she ignored the signs. Doctor treated her for acid reflux and in the end it was too late.

Jislaaik, that's horrible. Really sorry dude.

I'll take your advice and talk to the doctor. His rates are ridiculous.

I am so sorry Grant :crying: How old was he if you don't mind me asking?

I checked, sadly nothing. Also hasn't been confirmed as cancer, praying that it also won't be. Dr will do a core biopsy during the procedure to confirm whether it's benign or malignant.
Craig, I sent you a FB DM....

Good luck, if something is wrong it's better to know as early as you can.

I've finally gotten my hospital authorization. Now to just get through the next week.
Going back again next week Monday for a biopsy, scope and whatever else is going to be done.

CT scan was covered by Bonitas and I just need to pay the co payment for the hospital admission next week which is R2000.

Definitely my prostate is swollen and calcified causing some problems and bleeding, it’s a **** up and absolute ****ing **** up !

Ai man. Let's hope the biopsy comes back clean.

I’m good boys, I’m good !

Prostatis and follow up on Friday for lab results, Doc said it ain’t cancer.

Thank **** for that, had me nervous there for a few weeks.

Procedure wasn’t pleasant either holy ****.

Same for me. CT scan also showed positive, but after the OP the tumor was removed and sent for testing, came back negative so I'm all clear. My blood sugar spiked after the op and refused to come down for 2 days. So I'm on meds for that now, back at work but feel like a steam train pummeled me.

What did your procedure entail?

So happy to hear this Craig, huge relief 👏👏👏👏
