I'm having trouble accessing the App Store on my iPhone 4. My apn settings are set to iphone.vodacom.za. I read somewhere that I have to call Vodacom to get it provisioned, is this true? Tried calling them 3 times, waited for about 30 minutes until I hung up the first 2 times, and I got hung up on the third time.

I've had no luck with the internet apn either, and most pages I try to open in Safari just redirect to the Vodacom website.

I didn't buy a data bundle just so I can browse the Vodacom website

Can anyone help me out?

Just a guess, works on ipad. Next to apn just type in The word Internet. All in small letters.

Sound like you're on pre-paid with no data bundle and no funds to run OOB. In such a case you'll automatically be redirected to the vodacom site.

Maybe transfer some money to your account, buy a small bundle and see if it works.

Im currently using a 250MB Broadband Standard bundle and have airtime, that's why I'm so confused. I'm also on a Top-Up contract. Any other suggestions?

Have you tried to execute the basic USSD commands on the iphone4?

Try *111# then press dial.
Do some basic query to see how many minutes, data bundle and or sms is available on the SIM.

Last resort, you may already have tried: switch off and switch on.

No, I did used to have a Blackberry with BIS free on my Contract. When I got an iPhone, I just got a SIM swap done to micro SIM. Could it be the BIS add-on interfering?

Nothing is impossible.

PM VodacomData directly with all your details and the MSISDN. He can check for any funnies and will sort you out quick-quick.

Where would I find the MSISDN? I PM'ed VodacomData, no reply as of yet. I popped into Vodacom Datastore Cavendish today and they couldn't figure out what the problem could be. They then put me onto 082 155 and the consultant told me everything looks good from their side. The guys at the shop told me to go to iStore and get it checked. What I can't understand is that it worked with a MTN microSIM.

Any other advice guys? :(

Hmmm, I wonder if the problem is not with the network-specific settings file. There were some issues on some iPhones with this, IIRC.

Do a search in the iPhone sub-forum for this and see if there is a way to force a reload of this file via iTunes. Apple pushes a unique file for each network to the handset. You could well still have the MTN one.

If I recall, you could force it and the process was described here on myBB.

MSISDN is just fancy talk for the cell number, BTW.

Had the same problem on my USA iTunes account today when using my phone or the internet at work witch are both on vodacom, at work where not using 3g not sure actually, but after 5 min it was working on my phone again but still having issues on iTunes on the pc where as the South African one is working flawless no matter what i use.

Do u have a USA or South African Account seems like there is a problem with the USA ones where it works on minute and then not again
