Cannot connect to Gmail

Not working in either FF or IE, then tried GMail Java midlet client on my Symbian phone. It failed on the first refresh attempt but worked on the second.
<Breathes sigh of relief>
If you want to try from your phone with the excellent mobile applet, browse to
gmail.com/app
on your phone's browser.

[EDIT]: it sorta works but is rather spotty - could read a few emails but couldn't send a reply...

Oy this is a nightmare. I need to access some stuff that I had stored on my Gmail folders.

hahahaha,
just realised that i've subscribed to this thread but notifications are sent to my gmail inbox.

We're aware of a problem with Gmail affecting a number of users. This problem occurred at approximately 1.30AM Pacific Time. We're working hard to resolve this problem and will post updates as we have them. We apologize for any inconvenience that this has caused.

haha clever one!
if you have IMAP enabled you can still access your mail. Sending is a bit painful, but if you keep trying, it'll send

Don't know if i have IMAP enabled, at least i have the Offline Gmail labs thingemagic so i can at least see all my old mail.

Seems like it's only the web client that's affected, POP/SMTP still works through an email client.

Or do like spacemuis and get the java application for your mobile if you're really desperate

No, no, I meant to add that the mobile java gmail applet is actually pretty hot - almost fully functional, very efficient ito bandwidth usage (read: mobile data charges) and very handy to always have around for that email fix when you're "offline" :)
