i need urgent help people. Just got home from vacation and my laptop won't connect to the internet. it was fine when i left but now it won't connect to ANY website.
i have a desktop connected to the same router and it works fine. the laptop picks up the wireless signal fine and i can connect to the IP of the router from the laptop but for some reason i cannot access any site.
i need to send some work stuff urgently so any help is appreciated.
i have checked internet options/ lan settings- proxy server is NOT ticked.
i am pulling my hair out!

Is the desktop connected via ethernet cable? Or wireless as well?

problem sorted..a friend helped me over the phone. there was a problem with the DNS servers in my TCP /IP settings (whatever that means)

went to properties in router setings.
then changed the dns server settings.
he checked which dns setting was working from my desktop and i replaced that one with the one with the laptop. I am not sure how to do it but i had to ping some stuff.

sorry man i had no clue how to do that. can u post a link where i can read more about pinging for dns please so i can do it next time on my own

thanks..its works..
asume it doesn't where do i get correct dns settings from- telkom? isp?

strange, if it was the dns ip's on your router they should have affected the desktop pc as well, doubt it was just a dns issue, unless your laptop had specific dns ip's.(manuall instead of automatic )
