have purchased a Chronos awgr/2 A wireless ADSL router. If I connect to it without encryption enabled, I can ping it and see the resources on my network. As soon as I enable encryption using a WEP key – be it 64bit or 128bit – I can no longer ping it – even though I get a 54mbs connection. I have tried on numerous occasions with two notebooks, one uses a Broadcom 802.11b/g WLAN card – it is an HP Compaq nx6110, and the other is an Intel PRO Wireless 2200BG network connection – it is an ACER Travelmate C113Tci.

I have already swapped the modem out as I thought the first one was faulty. Can you assist me with any suggestions?

I'm not quite sure what the problem might be, but have you tried WPA encryption? It's also a lot safer than WEP which can easily be cracked.
