I'm stuck at Step 3 of the profile creation process (using an Option Quad Lite card).

I've downloaded and installed the latest version of the Vodafone connection software for the card, done the firmware upgrade (took all of 222 seconds), but the connection software does not pick up any services (it identified the datacard just fine, though).

Some more info - I've picked up the card late Friday afternoon (from Autopage at Vodaworld, I have other contracts with them) and was told that it will take 24 hours for the service to be activated. I've only tried to set everything up now (Saturday, 21h00), could be that it takes 24 working hours, and that I should have waited until Monday?

Any ideas?

While I'm at it, it seems as if a Vodacom line is required to be able to register at Vodacom 4U, a 3G contract on it's own won't work (some details will be sent via SMS, using an MTN number did not work).

thanks ...

Ok, 155 identified two issues:

1) I should have installed from the CD at first, and not from the downloaded software (some reg keys were missing). I had to un-install the dashboard software, then install from the CD. That worked, I could create a profile and the dashboard started up just fine.

According to 155, the firmware upgrade should not have caused any issues. And it seems to be ok, I get 2-3 bars at the moment (Lynnwood Glen, close to the Menlyn shopping centre).

The only question is, should I bother to upgrade the dashboard software?

2) The SIM is still inactive, I'll contact Autopage tomorrow to sort that out.

Seems as if the guys at 155 know what they're doing!

I'm out of here now, there is some rugby in France to be watched :-)

What version was on cd?

Hi

I'd like to know what version was installed from cd? Should be v5.00.0017? We use the Option quad cards here and they don't work with any software below V4.02.006. V6 works better here but has not been passed by our 'quality testing' department yet. I'm sure v3g will get on top off that on his side off the world soon!

BTW - led's on card give a good indication on whats happening:
red double pulse = gprs connected
blue double pulse = 3g connected
both flashing at same time = initialising/not connected to network/no sim card/sim not connected
both flashing alternatively=ge***ed(hardware fault normally)

SA lost - would have appreciated SA commentry here in the UK though. Bokke doing us proud anyway.

Cheers!:)

It is indeed v5.00.0017 (the downloaded version is v5.00.0017.0 - seems to be the same then.

Both are flashing on mine, but the SIM hasn't been activated yet.

btw - there is a small external antenna (120mm long) included in the package, is that the free antenna that is mentioned elsewhere on this forum?
