I'm phoning around with not much luck. I am in the West of Johannesburg. Any ideas for shops I can contact? There use to be a Universal Image at Clearwater Mall but that went *poof*. Tried some Foto Firsts and they all promised to call back. They also talking about a R300 odd generic battery but I don't want anything possibly damaging my camera. I really need it for tomorrow.

Is buying it online gonna be my only option? I'm too impatient to wait! :P

I'm phoning around and all some of the places has is the generic GPB. Is anyone using the generic batteries and are they worth it? Even Edkinds in Sandton City says the Canon LP-E5 battery is very hard to get from Canon at the moment. Not sure why. If I order online and they only send it in 3 months I'm gonna be really p*ssed off!

Yes I saw that but they get my money when I pay and I might only actually get the battery months from now if Canon doesn't have stock.

We have a Phottix compatible LP-E5 for R179. See http://www.camerastuff.co.za/shop/battery-lp-e5-for-canon-450d.html.

We sell plenty of these are have very few comebacks. And have yet to have a report of a damaged camera.

As with all our products, it carries a 12 month replacement- and 30 moneyback guarantee.

PS: We sell the GPB one as well, but would need a day or two to get it into stock for you.

If they have any problem procuring stock they're very good at reversing the transaction.

I've got no good reason to be nervous but I'm also hesitant in sticking generic's in my cameras.

I found a GPB one after much phoning around and close to home too. Thanks guys.

I bought a pair of GPB batteries for my 400D and so far they've been holding up. I took around 1000 photos with one of those batteries yesterday and the IS was on all the time.
