I (used to) have a Canon 450D that I (seem to) have passed down to my daugher :o

IMA weekend photographer who likes to play around, nothing pro just general shots & trying to be artistic. Also getting a kick from shooting raw & doing my own post-processing etc.

Budget wise I'm looking at either a Canon 650/700D or Nikon D5200, but I'm unsure of the choice between the Nikon 18–55mm + 55-200mm VR combo, or the Canon 18-135 IS STM lens @ ~R500 difference.

So.. a camera with two lenses for different purposes, or with one lens trying to be both?

What would you choose, and why?

Personally I'd stick with the same brand as your daughter.

Didn't think of that, but I'm kinda leaning towards the Canon 700D with single 18-135 lens for convenience anyway.

18-135 does seem like a useful range for general use.
