What's up guys
I've got a 750D and have figured out the basic (read kak) time lapse function where one sets a focus range and the camera records from there

This results in a rubbish time lapse as only a quarter or so of the frame is in focus

Does anyone know a trick to ensure the whole field of view is in focus? Really don't want to have to buy an introvolameter and magic lantern isn't available for this camera (yet)

Buy an inexpensive intervalometer or wait for ML. There are ones that you install on your phone and use a bit of special hardware.

Just remember - mirror boxes and shutters don't last for ever.

AUTOFOCUS should be switched off, in order to avoid automatic adjustments by the camera

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I tried using manual focus however this still doesn't sort out the issue, it seems to be a "digital" thing on the camera's firmware...

See the below GIF how the area outside of the rectangle go in and out of focus as the rectangle is moved, no change in focus on the lens itself

Is that box not the miniture effect box... hence only in focus within square. That's not time lapse....

It is, and it seems to be the only mode that enables time-lapse. I.E setting the time intervals as you require

Unless I'm missing something obvious, or this camera just doesn't have native time-lapse support

The miniature effect mode will only sharpen the image within the triangle , if you want to shoot timelapse with the 750d you need a introvolameter , you can find a cheap one on bidorbuy that should do the job .

I have 700D. You can use the Canon Utility software and connect via USB to say laptop or something and set time intervals for time lapse.

There's a smartphone \ tablet App called Cascable (might be iOS only, not sure) which you can pair with your DSLR and it handles time lapses very nicely.
