Used S95 at R2,600.00 or new S100 at R4,000?

Features really difference?

EDIT : Seems R2,600.00 is a bit expensive and the features between the two are far apart

S100 should be around R3800 ... awesome little camera. Almost no diff between the S100 and S110. Specs just about identical, S100 has GPS ... S110 has WiFi and touch screen. DionWired had the S95 for R2600 (new, not used), but I figured the R1200 extra for the S100 wasn't that much ... didn't want to wait for the S110

I have a S100, friend has a S95. The key things like low light, raw etc. are the same. The GPS is a gimmick and a serious battery killer. I tried it in the beginning and often found by the time the GPS had zeroed in on my location I was done taking the picture which meant no geotag. It also does 1080p, but given how quickly that fills your SD card I've dropped it down to 720p. The S100 has had a small ergonomic change by introducing a bit more grip, which the S95 lacks, which is a nice improvement. I think the HDR feature wasn't in the S95. It works well, but you *must* us it with a tripod. It's always blurry if you try it free-hand.

^thanks^ was about to ask what the real life actual photographic differences was.

I have the S95 and I'm still amazed with it after all this time. I'll upgrade when they make a compelling upgrade to the series - a larger sensor might persuade me.

I love mine, its perfect for my needs and I'll probably only upgrade if it breaks or gets stolen.

I think one of you guys should sell it to me now ... then buy it back in January :P

EDIT : Don't see it on Dionswired site :/ Could be too old ?

I have both the s95 and the s100.

The only reason I bought the S100 is because the s95 got damaged beyond repair in a rucksack drama in New Zealand.

They're both awesome cameras, but in my opinion the s100 is not worth upgrading to from an s95. If you're buying new, it's probably worth going for the s100, because ergonomically it is better (the bottom control ring doesn't budge easily like it did on the s95 which makes it much easier to control). The GPS is a gimmick, I never use it (mostly upload direct to phone with my Eye-Fi card so the phone does the GPS tagging anyway).

If you do get either the s95 or the s100, make sure you order a custom grip from this awesome manufacturer in the US: http://www.kleptography.com/rf/
They are exceptionally well made and they make the camera much, much easier to handle. I bought one for both my s95 and s100 and I can recommend them wholeheartedly (they don't take that long to ship either).

They're quite rare to find used :/

I *may* get an S100 new and sell it next month. I just won't to lug an SLR/lens there and would rather leave things of value at home.

Are the IXUS range far worse?
They have all manual controls too?

Big difference between Ixus and S range was (is?) sensor size. With the S95+ range you can actually use ISO 200 and 400, which is extremely helpful. Combined with an maximum aperture of f/2 it gives you plenty of useful opportunities for such a small P&S...

Haven't followed the latest range of Ixus cameras though, maybe they've grown closer to the S range.
