Anyone have this camera?

I'm wondering if it does rear curtain sync with the built in flash. The sites list it as a feature, but I'm not sure if that's with an external flash only - or both.

Lists these as flash modes with the built in flash :

Built-in Flash : Auto, Manual, Red-eye Reduction, Auto Red-eye Correction, Flash On, Flash Off; FE Lock, Safety FE, Slow Synchro

I just didnt think that point and shoots had curtains.

Oh.

It lists it - but it may be control for the external flash :/

Oh - I wouldn't really class it as a p&S though ;)

it's a BRIDGE!

it's a BRIDGE!

There's very little difference that I can see.

It might be classified as a bridge camera but it uses an electronic shutter. There are no shutter curtains. I never quite liked the BRIDGE term. Before they were referred to as bridge, they were called ProSumer Point & Shoots. A point and shoot with the capability to tweak more of the settings such as long exposure, manual focus, more custom metering and white balance options etc etc.

Electronic shutter is bad?

That's when the speaker actually goes 'click' rather than a 'click' of something mechanical?

On a practical level I've always experienced shutter lag on electronic-shutter cameras. I don't know if this is due the technicalities of implementing the electronic shutter perhaps having to bleed current due to the live-view before actually taking the exposure. The technology obviously has improved considerably and shutter lag is not as noticeable as before. I may be totally wrong here too.

Yep. No mechanical shutter curtains.

@Dolby. The kit lenses that most dslrs come with might not be fantastic but they're still plenty good enough.

That's pretty impresive actually. What's it like in fairly low light?

I'm no photographer but thats where they lose vrs DSLR - if/when they step to a larger sensor would do the camera a favour.
I like having zoom & it does that fine - if someone was looking for more quality in not so great light then i guess its not a camera for them

Thanks for the info. A friend of mine is actually selling his 40d to get a bridge because he is doing 3 months in South America and doesn't want a camera that will make him a theft target or at least one that is easier to just throw in a bag. He asked me what bridge or good P&S to get and I have no idea so any info I can get will help him with his choice.
