While trying to change my adsl log in settings the page froze and now I can't seem to access the router at all.

Tried to reset the router but that doesn't help but at all. All I get is the USB and Internet lights flashing and nothing else.

I tried pinging the router on 10.0.0.2 but there's no response.

I was thinking that maybe the firmare got corrupted somehow.

Any help (in detail) of how to recover the firmware would be most appreciated.

did not try to flash firmware
I'm using a Lan cable, but get limited or no connectivity

Restart your Computer.

See if it's connected fine, if not>

Start>run> type in cmd>press enter> Type in ipconfig /release (press enter)
Wait a few seconds (about 40) and type in ipconfig /renew
Wait again.

Type in ipconfig /flushdns
Type in ipconfig /registerdns

If you still can't access it. Stick it in another LAN port and try again.

I've just got my neighbours router and plugged it an and everything works perfectly.

So def not a problem with cables, pc, settings.

Tried this.
Got an error saying cant connect to DHCP server

Try manually giving your PC an IP and see if you can access it then.

Give the PC an IP like 10.0.0.3 and use 10.0.0.2 as the Default Gateway and DNS Server.

Pardon my ignorance but how do I do that exactly?

Assuming you're using Windows XP do this:

Go to Start > Control Panel > Network Connections

Right click your LAN adapter, go to Properties, highlight Internet Prototcol (TCP/IP) in the box, and then select "Use the following IP address" and fill in the IPs manually.

Then go to the command prompt (Start > Run and type cmd) and type ipconfig /all and copy and paste the results here.

Wierd.

It's not showing the IP Address or anything.

What happens if you change the subnet to 255.255.255.0?

Have you tried putting the LAN cable in a different port on the router?

Try that.

Also, reset the router this way:

Switch the router off, either by the button (if it has one) or by pulling out the power cable.

Hold the reset button in with a sharp object, make sure it actually goes in, but don't press too hard. Stick the power cable back in while holding in the reset button (or switch it on while holding the reset button).

Hold the reset button for a minimum of 30 seconds. Longer is better, shorter is not.

Leave the router for about 3 minutes, check your watch. Try accessing it again.

How can you flash the firmware if you can't access the router?

Did you reset it the same way I suggested? Powering it down, hold reset and power up?

I did that.

Now windows says it is connected but I still can't access the router.

Did you change the IP of the router by any chance?

Also, did you try setting a static IP like I described above?

didn't change the setting.

Now assigned a static IP
