Your friends aren't friends if you have to impress them, bet they'll be inpressed with a sheati golf. Get something fun and reliable for that cash get a Ford Fiesta or Mazda 2 nothing else

I i were you , id maybe go for a used Audi 2.0 FSI.
REason being is that the Audis come with a 5 year 100 00km plan. So if you buy a used model , with low mileage , you still going to have the remainder of the plan. I wouldnt waste that kind of Money on a Polo.
Maybe even a facelift , e 46 318i (sportpack with low mileage and also 5 yr/100 000km plan). You can get those for much less than 150k and will get a lot more value than a polo.

Jeez - that is excellent advice. And the good thing with buying a used TT that is 6 years old is that you know it will give no problems what so ever. That is because the typical TT driver virtually never exceeds the speed limits and never put the potential of the quattro system to use.
Great plan indeed to buy it without worrying about a warranty because you know nothing will go wrong. After all, it is an Audi - and they are owned by VW - their cars never breakdown even are after years of flat out driving....

Perhaps that is the kind of person you should ask for advise in these economic times, no matter what colour you are or where you come from.
Audi's services and parts are hellish expensive. If anything breaks you'll have to sell your body on Rivonia Road to fork out the money to have it fixed. Not to mention the S3 is a petrol guzzler and with the price of petrol set to go up again - just not wise.

Since when is a 318 or a 2.0 fsi performance cars. Both have power of less than 110 kw which IMHO would NOT classify em as performance cars.
Insurance might be a tad more (maybe 150 - 200 bux) , COnsumption i dont think would be much different. (On a recent trip to to durbs , me pals 318 and another pals 1,6 G4 achieved similar consmption figures).
Basket of parts on a 318 probably the same as that on the Fiat Grande Punto. Someone metioned Fiat PANDA(WTF? OPINION : dont waste your time with FIAT dude ) .

You are definitely far better off buying a Toyota or Honda if budget is an issue.
It's all well and good to say i have this much money to spend on a car. You have to take into account the costs involved in maintaining that car. Petrol and parts, services can't be overlooked when car shopping.

A mate of mine just got himself a 2006 VW Passat 2.0 FSI, it has 55000.00kms mileage for a measly R149000. Don't limit yourself to Golfs and Polos, there are lots of good deals out there if you look hard enough.
One of the car dealer in Fourways has a 2005 Audi A3 2.0 FSI with 25000k's for R129000 which i think is a very good deal.
