Can't delete 'found.000'

I'm having some trouble deleting a 'found.000' folder on my one drive.
When I try delete it I get an Access denied error and told I don't have permission to delete them.

I'm running an administrator account and I've tried changing the permissions to allow full control to my account but still get the same error.

It's quite irritating as the folder is taking up 50GB of my drive which I now need.

Has anyone encountered this before or know how to fix it?

I'm running Vista 64bit btw.
 
Use a linux boot disc? Knoppix? That allows you to start an X session and you can delete it from there.
 
take full ownership in the security / permissions part of the file properties, then try...
From my experience it creates a "found" file after a critical error or power failure on reboot.

If all else fails, use a boot disk or flash drive, go to console and delete it that way...
 
I found another unlocker type app, lockhunter, that works for vista 64bit but it didn't work. Said nothing was locked.

So I booted into the recovery console and managed to remove most of the directories in 'found.000' but some of them are still not budging. But at least I've got back most of the 50GB.

Yep, it isn't an ownership issue. It sounds more like it's 'in use' by a program, so it's a sharing one.
 
found.xxx indicate problems with your hardware somewhere. Usually it indicates a possible hard drive failure, cache to disk problems, filesystem errors, and not shutting down properly.

Best investigate why it appears in the first place.
 
I think the issue occured when I was defragging the drive and lost power then ran a chkdisk. I managed to recover some movies which were in the found.000 folder. But I could not delete them after copying them to another drive.

I've tried changing permissions in the security tab and it won't let me, says I need an administrator account (I am), also tried unlocking it with 'lockhunter' and it said there was nothing locking the files.

Tried deleting then from the CP in windows and it gave me access denied messages.

The only thing that sort of worked was booting up with my vista disk and going to the recovery console and deleting it from there, but 2 folders wouldn't delete (dir0002.chk and dir0005.chk) which have some mp3s in them, most of it did though.
 
easy to delete Found.000 folder and its contents

Hi Every one,

follow following steps in any win OS

1. right click on found.000 folder and go to its properties
2. go to security
3. go to advance
4. change owner to Administrator
5. select (Replace owner on subcontainers and objects)
6. select administrator from the list permission entries
7. apply
8. ok
9. ok

go back to drive c: / d: / e: drive , search found.000 folder and delete it.

If could not delete after all 9 step, follow following steps

1 right click on the found.000 folder
2. go to security
3. select administrator from (Group or user name)
4. press Edit
5. permission for administrator ( select full control, add, delete, modify)
6. press Ok
7. go back to found.000 folder and delete it.
