Hi
I recently started gyming again and this time i started using a USN Protein Shakes and that just made me sick so i tried using Evox 5XL muscle meal and that just gave me the runs .... so i went to the doctor to find out... that my body is not digesting the protein:confused: and i should try something lactose free

I Googled and found out that Muscle Science Optimum Anabolic has low lactose (not sure if that will help) but on the site is fall under the increase strength not the Gain Mass category and im actually try to gain mass ....
Not sure where to go from here any help will be appreciated

IANANB (I am not a nutritionist but) :P

Is it all protein? Most of the normal protein shakes use whey protein (from milk). Perhaps switch to a vegetable based protein (soy isolate for example is as high in protein as whey). It might be the type of protein that you can't digest... not protein itself.

i had the exact same problem as you Lee and couldn't find a solution for ages. A while back I started drinking my protein shake (usn muscle fuel sts) in much smaller portions but continuously throughout the day (about 5 times per day instead of the usual one in the morning and one after gym). After doing that for a while I noticed that my stomach didn't run anymore and I never felt nauseas again. Try it, it just might work! Oh and I also gained muscle mass waaaaayu quicker this way ;)

How do you know if you're lactose intolerant?

Skip the juice. It is bad for you. Google it for 3 minutes to be horrified.

Stick to eating healthy and drinking lots of water. Do it properly.

Gas ... I hate gas.

After all my favourite eating activities like braaing and drinking and garlic and onions and red meat ... I always have gas.

Maybe I should become sissie-like and only eat veggies ... that will be the day!

Thanks everybody for the advice :)

Its only happens when I use the protein shakes so I don’t think its all protein Thanks Shogun
I just been on the USN website and saw that the Muscle Fuel is actually lactose free so I think that will do just fine :D Thanks Edduck

You could always try to just eat more natural protein, like eggs and lean meat.

Natural food is the way to go :)

Shakes are a money maker for whoever makes them, and you don't really gain with it, its only worth if you really dont have time to get the real food.

I do think whey isolate works. It's just that I'm not sure how healthy it is in the long run.

I use the USN Whey shakes and I had similar issues initially. The symptoms went away after a week or so. No issues since.

I stay away from anything USN related, I have heard too many bad stories on them from dedicated body builders, I tried them a while back because they where cheap and never again.

switched to Evox and finally felt better with better results as well.
