Hallo please help installing windows 10 on new ssd.

Used windows media creation tool to create bootable usb.
Only have new ssd plugged in.
Boot with the usb.
Enter Product key.
Then at " Where do you want to install windows " I see the ssd but when I click next I get "couldn't create a partition or locate an existing one ".

I have even created the partition and made it active via cmd diskpart and in windows disk management not working. This is so frustrating.

Please any ideas ?

Thank you

Are you trying to install via a USB 3 port? If yes, please try a USB 2 port.

Some HP products don't like loading Windows via USB 3 ports. Maybe this is the same for yours

I had the same problem. I struggled for a day, did everything you can imagine to try and install but nothing worked. In the end I had to clone my old HDD to get windows on it.

Try disconnecting any other drives that are installed on the machine. Also try creating a installer on a different USB drive, preferably a USB 2.0 drive.

Apparently it is a problem with certain SSD'S. What is the make by the way?
Windows can't find the partition because it just wants to make it raw the whole time.

If you find a way, I'd be very interested in the solution.

I formatted, did the cmd thing, repartitioned, made new partitions, cleaned it, reprioritised it. Googled for hours, tried every solution that was posted but in the end, nothing worked but cloning.

I unplug my other 2 x 1tb drives everytime. Busy creating a new usb 8gb to try and eliminate. If this doesnt work I will prob download iso en create own boot usb.

MAybe investigate the UEFI partition system, i know for a fact i had this issue when i tried to install Win 10 on my SSD-tablet, where the traditional "MBR" partitioning does not work anymore . You boot up the DVD just fine and get to install , but it will never work, i had to use a specific tool to format the USB with the UEFI system

I used this tool : https://rufus.akeo.ie/

Media creation tool is for upgrades not fresh installs, AFAIK.
Shouldn't be, I did a fresh install with the same media/iso using the Rufus iso to usb tool, maybe give that a try.

Edit, Seen Rufus has already been mentioned, amazing tool.

If all else fails installing on another drive and then cloning the drive is a good solution. Also drives me nuts when something like this happens. But not worth throwing countless hrs of spare time down the drain for, just do whatever will work and leave it, been there done that!
