Im struggling to send sms's or even receive them with my modem. Im also not able to send USSD commands with the MDMA software. It has always worked now all of a sudden i cannot do it anymore. Does anyone have some solutions. Im using a Huwei modem and Windows XP, but like i said i have been doing this just a week or two ago still and now all of a sudden I cannot do it anymore

With Huawei E272 I have trouble, suddenly it stops sending USSD commands, something blocks inside and stays till reset (from mdma). Other Huawei modems do not show the same problem.

I think this happens to all Huawei modems. Sajunky pointed out elsewhere that when this happens you cannot hear the interference over a pair of speakers, so it seems the modem is not even attempting to send the USSD request.

So are there any way to fix this, maybe with some kind of driver update?
If you are experiencing the problem sajunky described, just unplug and replug the modem, or hit the 'reset device' button in MDMA.

It does not solve the problem. I unplug and plugged the modem again, opened the mdma, clicked the rest device button.

Once it had done resetting the device I enter the *111# ussd code and it says USSD session active at the bottem, but nothing happens. After a while the USSD session just closes.

Are you able to send SMS or USSD if you put the SIM card in a mobile phone?

Ok, I checked it today, it does send from the phone sms and ussd. I also sent ussd commands with my other modem which is not a Huwuei but a ZTE. So im starting to assume that it is the modem. It does not matter if it is 3G or 2G it does not send, plus i do not even use the modem if it does not get 3G or hsdpa as I set the mdma or normal dashboard to 3G only.

All right. It is a time to unveil your modem model details. Do you have Tools->Diagnostics menu in your dashboard? Post here what you see in the "Network status" tab. There is information next to "CS network registration".
If you don't see it in your dashboard, run mdma, make note of COM port in "Device info". Then close mdma and open Hyperterminal, select the same COM port. Press few times <Enter> key and then AT<Enter>. Response should be "OK". Then type the following commands and write down response:
AT^SYSCFG?
AT^SYSCFG=?
