So long story short our DSD 1110 packed up today with a error 8118. We have an old DSD 910 with its smart card that still works perfectly.

So I phone up Multichoice and ask them to marriage the old Smart card with the old decoder (E17)

After about 20mins on the phone she eventually tells me that the decoder is too old and that’s why I cannot view any channels.

So now I have to go tomorrow and pay R340 to have the DSD 1110 "fixed"

So is this just BS or reality?

Our 1110 packed up like two weeks ago, the video just suddenly pegged.
Got the new 1132 for R580 at Monochoice.

Pic?
Also IIRC many years ago my family's decoder was giving kuk, we took it in and payed like R300 for a new one, and only a few years ago I realized the reason they said was that its firmware was too old, all we needed to do was a DSD upgrade, maby try that first then SMS "E17 + Smartcard Number" to 32472 or just do it online on DSTV's website here

Hmm would love to give this a try but can't find the old DSTV remote so I can't get to the decoder menu :(

they purposefully stuff null packets in the TS stream to cripple the slower boxes. Old "trick" used in the industry.

I have 910 and 933 running flawlessly - well as close as flawless can be and yes even a 710i.

Go to multichoice with your 910 decoder.

Get a version 6 smartcard and have them activate the service on your decoder.

It should be free if you are a current subscriber.
