Can'y activate Windows and k*k Microsoft service

One reason why I'm using a crack to bypass that activation schitte. Causes a lot of pain when you can't get to the activation center.

And I can't see why it's illegal - you purchased the PC, with a legal copy of Windows. So where does the illegal aspect comes in if you decide to bypass their craptivation scheme?

easy- how are the software that checks for validity to know that you have actually bought the windows legally ?, that is why both cracking of a legal and illegal windows as deemed wrong.

I don't care what the software thinks. All that matters is that you have the License sticker with the serial that is only being used on that one machine - proof that it ain't illegal.

just remember you have to go in safe mode and activate windows.this is only when you have a problem.

Ever cared to look at the EULA? In it you agree not to "alter, reverse engineer or decompile" the software in any way - cracking it is in breach of these conditions. I share your sentiment, but the letter of the law doesn't.

I reinstalled Windows on my laptop a few weeks ago and never got round to activating it online during the 30 day 'trial' period. I need it tomorrow for my trip so I boot it up, realise this and figure I'll have to do it over the phone. The first number they provide for SA 'doesn't exist' and the second gives a pre-recorded message about the number having changed. I dial the 'new' number but there is no answer; also as if no such number exists.

Find a crack and crack the thing. It's a legal copy of Windoze, MS hasn't got their things together on this one, they should be sued for it but no doubt their EULA contains some BS which would prevent a lawsuit. MS as a company should just be broken up by the US DOJ and all memory of M$ outlawed,

company I hate, it's Micro$oft. No-one else has done so much disservice to the computing world. The sooner the world goes Linux, Solaris etc or Mac OSX the better.

I agree. I activated XP with a downgrade from Vista Business just this week on that number.

This is one of the most frustrating threads I've ever read on this forum, I felt like pulling my hair out. RTFM!!

btw I also have activated a couple of Winders licences via telephone - and it worked just fine for me.

For those who've never done it, the procedure is as follows :

First you click on "Activate this copy of Windows" - and tell the program that you'll want to phone a consultant. It will then generate a couple of numerical digits in 7 (or 8) groups.

You then either read the numbers back to a human consultant, or you punch them in on the telephone's keyboard for a computerized consultant.

With each group of numbers it is verified that which you've entered is correct.

Then after all the groups have been entered, another group of codes is generated on M$'s side, and the consultant (or computer) will start to read it back to you. There's no need to panic here if you miss a number, you get the chance to repeat the lot, until you have entered all the groups. The numbers is all numerical again.

Once all the numbers have been entered into their correct groups, your copy of Windows should be activated. I don't know what happens next if it doesn't get activated beyond this stage, it always worked for me.

Be prepared beforehand, choose a quiet place, within reach of the computer.

There are many companies out there that make pirates of legitimate users. If something I brought gives me crap I will use a hack or crack, it does not even approach being a moral issue. The only immoral fscks here are the companies screwing their customers over.

WTF it keeps nagging you for 30 days.

I am not understanding why you guys are finding it hard to phone in and activate the product, works very well and very easily. Ponder would microsoft need anti pirate measures if nobody pirated? So before going off about morals maybe look at it from both sides of the coin . Neither the pirater nor the company has any morals in my opinion, the legit users suffer as a result.
