Fair enough, but the majority of the people in THIS province are NOT tribal in any way. Do you agree?

No, in the Western Cape, no the majority are not tribal, but thats because the majority population in the Western Cape is Coloured.

But in the Cape Colony as it was in 1910, yes the majority of the population is Tribal.

Roughly 66% of that population is of African descent, and they're still Tribal to a very large degree (its a generalisation, but it has been shown to be true over and over again)

The Cape Party is seeking the Independence of the WC as it is today. Thats what their about. No need discussing that one further.

Well then you can dream on..

There is no historic WC... so no basis for your secession other than an INCREDIBLY small minority that have "issues" with the current government... and couldn't be arsed to actually try FIX the problems and do something positive for the WHOLE country.

Welcome to reality.. sucks doesn't it?

Yes it's an incredibly small minority of people who want to do something about it and believe in a cause. Throughout the whole of S.A. I think you'll find a vast majority of people have issues with the current government regardless of who they voted for :D

You can join the DA, you can help out in your community...

The list is endless...

No not really. Sounds all nice and bleeding hearts but in reality I'm afraid it would make the minimal of impact. If the state is determined to milk the country for all it's worth and neglect services there's not much anybody can do about it.

Well if you won't give it a try... then you're going to fail..

I at least try to make a difference... even if its only felt by 10 or 20 people.

Problem is there's millions of people. Those millions of people are pretty pissed off at the moment too. They're pissed off for one reason. Lack of progress

Bru, theres alot more than 10 or 20 ppl who feel the way you do. Theres alot of goodwill in SA and believe it or not, alot of goodwill here in the Cape also. We're just opting for a different route.

Yes... I am pissed off at the Lack of Progress as well..

But I try do something constructive about it.. I complain yes, but I also try do something about it in my own small way.

Yes, and I seem to have a grasp on the scale of things whereas you independence supporters don't

But they're very, very pissed off. Just look at the xenophobic violence. You honestly think Zuma is going to address their plight?

Well you're going to have to convince millions of people to do a hell of a lot to compensate for the state. That ain't going to happen. After all there's loads of people helping out their fellow citizens in Zim and look at it.

The cape had a long history of relative peaceful co-existence between all its people before it was forced into a union with Natal and the Boer Republics...

Check this out:

"In 1951 the Springbok Legion, formed a protest group together with the War Veterans Action Committee, to appeal to a broader base of ex-servicemen, which they called the 'Torch Commando', as a tactic to fight the National Party's plans to remove Cape's "coloured" voters from the roll. The Torch Commando fought a battle for more than five years, and at its height had 250,000 members. The government was alarmed by the number of judges, public servants and military officers joining the organisation that a new law was passed to ban anyone in public service or the military from joining. The National Party ensured that the memory of the Springbok Legion, Torch Commando and of 'Sailor' Malan was purged from history because there was a fear particularly that young Afrikaners may want to emulate Malan..." - wikipedia

It was still a colony that surpressed the "native" population..... so that populations ancestors will not be very amenable to bringing back that country...

Natal also had a relatively peaceful co-existence with the people... didn't stop the British and the Boers from subjugating the native population.

Your words dude.
What exactly do you think the Cape Movement is doing? Giving it a try, even if it betters 20 peoples lives (which it has already IMO by giving some of us a little hope that something can be salvaged of our once beautiful country)

No, they're not giving it a try...

They're attempting to break away from this country.. thats called being a quitter in my books.

And ultimately its not the mentality this country needs... we need people to try FIX things, not walk away because its "too hard"

Yes, but you have to put it into historical perspective - native ppl all around the world suffered discrimination under colonial rule. The only real opposition to the NP however came out of the Cape. Fact. Google "Sailor Malan" or "torch commando" if you dont believe me. The Cape ppl from all walks of life were not in favour of the disenfranchisement of coloured people and to this day regret it ever happened. Thats not to say that these things didnt happen in other SA areas, I just want you to understand that the Cape Party's quest for Cape Independence is not racially motivated and never was. If you go into their Offices, you will see a huge portrait of Sailor Malan.

Its about SA politics, economics, BEE, intimidation etc.
