Can anyone figure out which absa bank is being robbed?

Cape Town - An armed robbery is under way at an Absa Bank in Cape Town's CBD, police said on Tuesday afternoon.

Absa in Adderley Street was being held up on Tuesday afternoon.

"The call came through about 10 minutes ago," Sharon Lambert, who works in the police station's control room, told News24 at about 13:40.

Police first went to the Absa at the top of Adderley Street only to find that it was the Absa Bank "near the railway line" that was being robbed, said Lambert.

"All the vehicles from our station were sent to the scene," said Lambert.

The station has about six vehicles.

Police were on the scene trying to negotiate with the robbers. So far, no gunshots were reported.

Seriously where the hell do these ppl learn to write?

At first they say it was the absa in adderley that there is a robbery underway. Then a bit later it says its the one closer to the railway line.
So i take it it's the one in lower st. georges next to the southern sun and opposite woolies....or the one in the middle of st. george's mall?


Bloody idiotic reporting.
 
To many banks in my opinion. If they cut down on the branch offices and high rental shopping mall locations than perhaps bank fees could become less...

I find it unbelievable they went to the wrong place, and then to the correct one, all in 10 mins. Highly unbelievable.
 
Look, let them be so stupid!

Hopefully, they'll get shot and killed and problem will be solved.
Cause, I know, saying that is pretty stupid, because, innocents could be hurt.
So... I should probably not have said it... but alas, in a perfect world ;)
 
What are you moaning about? This is a simple mistake. It happens to humans.
Next thing it will be policy to call the place first to see if they're being robbed before issuing the callout.

Almost as classic as the "about" 6 vehicles. What, the dude counting only has one hand, so had to guess after "5"?
 
Employees at Absa Bank in Adderly Street evacuated the building but returned about an hour later after police had given them the all clear, said Adriaan Bester, communications manager for Absa.

Police first went to the Absa at the top of Adderley Street only to find that it was the Absa Bank "near the railway line" that received the bomb threat, Sharon Lambert, who works in the police station's control room, told News24 earlier on Tuesday.

Police confirmed that the "bank robbery" that was reportedly underway at the bank was, in fact, a bomb threat.

Police sent in sniffer dogs but no explosive device was found, a police spokesperson told News24 on Tuesday afternoon.

"It was not a robbery, it was a bomb threat that turned out to be negative," said the police spokesperson.

Bleh.

Wonder how much of that first article was just made up on the spot.

There's a big difference between a robbery where "no gunshots have been fired and negotiations are under way" and a bomb threat.
