Cape Town Power Cuts/Loadshedding??

I hate powercuts, here in the EC. We have had none. I dont know what i would do with out my computer on. This winter is going to be a cold one. And Eskom does this now. man what a great company.

Just start building new reactors! i mean really its not that hard if Iran can do so can we. But build it far away from ppl, cos if a BEE company is going to build it, it will explode!
 
There were power-cuts last night for 45min - luckily it wasn't in my area. Also an Eskom spokeperson said that "we should expect rolling blackouts daily for 2 months"

I few places were without power today and last night, I think Tshwane Metro may be secretly powershedding... (or maybe they're just incompetent!)

I have been hearing rumours and whipsers of the odd cut here and there but so far nothing like the schedule on the eskom site, nor anywhere near as bad as last time...

Lets just hope this continues :)
 
Just heard from a friend who heard on the radio that we can expect loadshedding today in town area. Something wrong with koeberg again...

Anyone got any more info? I cant find anything...
 
I can confirm the power is out. I just sped through to town at twice the speed limit to shut down the servers at a client before the UPS died.

Sigh.... what a mess... again....

Interesting to find out whether you all are having repeated power-cuts in the SAME areas or generally speaking each time the area is somewhat different?
IF, as i surmise, these powercuts are merely a cover for the crews to 'do maintenance' i.e. link up your power to the Municipalities new scheme? , they will be working flat out to link up poles in large series. In my case it was only about 12 poles handled by one controller. and we did have Repeated power cuts until the setup was completed. Good luck julle :D
The tests were begun in 2004 and are supposedly perfected by now so hopefully none of you, or very few at least, will lose appliances on the scale we did.

I told you everything already ... well that i personally have experienced and the rest that i guessed at ... the puzzle is finished as far as im concerned.
Koeberg is a cover up for all the inevitable cuts that have to be made while we are ALL linked up to the Municipalities/Govt.
I cant be coherent or anything other than ambiguous but i wrote it in doggerel like stuff and its there and the best i could do for a tard.
If you are lucky in your area and have really good drones monitoring your series once the link up is completed, you literally shouldnt feel a thing :eek:
I sadly was one of the first test guinea pigs and paid for it heavily.
But hey ---all i say is look for the pretty shiny aluminium-like bands round your nearest electricity pole... study them from ALL angles in the dark and see !!! Christmas trees they be heheh.... you think i got special treatment? hmm..maybe i dunno but again - the very best of luck to u all....

Gas heaters??? How do they work if you cant find gas and your power is cut?

Another thing that bothers me, the make it so difficult to see on the boxes if the energy saver bulb is cool or warm white. I hate the whitish cool ones, they are so weak and take a bit to glow properly, warm (yellow) ones are strong from start, and just look much better...

hey.. don't diss our toady.. read between the lines :)

my gas heater is empty atm.. thinking of going into the t'ship to hijack me one of those konka jobbies...

and yes, i agree wholeheartedly, those cold, morgue-like globes are depressing! ESKOM!!! where the hell are MY free globes!? pls ensure i get the warm-glow kind, OK!
