The number of cellphones impounded by traffic police in Cape Town is on the rise, says an official.

I think its just scare tactics. I don't know anyone who's phone got confiscated. ( or at least not anyone who will admit it )

I also think that taking peoples property away without a court order is at least questionable; if not unconstitutional

Scare tactics?

I know two people that got their phones confiscated last year alone. Not surprised as my boss was always on his phone. Didn't know why he never used the Bluetooth handsfree in his car.
