Hey!

So where in good ol Cape Town can I find a place that sells tires for a good price?

Not looking for anything fancy. Just normal tires (not retreads) for a Opel.

Any tips?

Try L&Z in Maitland. They're part of HiQ I think. I always get very good pricing from them. Ask for Junior. They do various tyres but is also a Conti-partner which means they get good pricing on Continentals.

Wheel tech, corner of vangard & klipfontien.
Goodhope tyres, plenty of branches-google them.
Tyger wheel & Tyre.

I've found good prices on decent brands at these places in Cape Town.

Buy a brand name tyre, Goodyear, Michelin, Continental, Yokohama, etc in the correct size and speed rating.

Found a place with great prices in Woodstock called Pitstop. Ph: 0861 pitstop
36 Albert road, Woodstock but they have other branches as well.

First decide what kind of tyres you want - economy/performance/comfort/etc?

Then phone the usual suspects to find out if they have any specials running atm. For example, I got Goodyear Eagle F1s last year for R700 less per tyre than the normal retail when HiQ had them on special.

If you just want basic tyres, Tonnesen sells Dunlop at a LOT less than everyone else. Incidentally not all of the Tonnesens sell for the same price. I bought tyres at the Diep River branch for R999 where the next cheapest (Pirellies on sale) was R1500. Also check the pricing for wheel alignment before you make your decision (this can also vary)

Another vote for Goodhope Tyres - they have plenty of outlets and I recently got Sava Intensa (made in Slovenia under the license from GoodYear) for my Astra at R600 a tyre.
