Cape Town TV (CTV)

It might come as a suprisew but even the poorest households in the townships have DVD players- last time I checked they were giving them away for about R299.

The only people still with VCR's are those with massive movie collections on VHS- who couldn't be arsed about moving onto DVD considering their "investment".

Another surprise is that those who want to record something from TV and can't afford +2000 for a DVD recorder or a PVR are using VCR's.

ever heard of the following devices:

- HD TV
- DVD
- Blu ray Disk player
- Mediacenter Device (Xbox for example)
- Digital television etc...

By saving some money, since u can log onto myadsl.co.za, I'd assume it won't take u long, buy any of the above and through that thing u call a VCR away..

or u could just connect the antenna directly to the VCR and use digital cables to tranfer the signal to the television...:-)

or something like that....

Excuse me ever heard of money? For a lot of people they can not afford to spend $$$ on a brand new HDTV (btw for a few channels oh and of cause its a known thing the HD PVR has less features than the SD PVR)

Btw I have heard of a DVD player, have two actually, they can only play media not record tv shows onto them.

Blu Ray yes I know those, those wonderful devices plagued with DRM not to mention the discs are double the price of DVD's.

Media Center device, I am actually planning to setup one of those next year.

Of cause considering the fact the channel aims to provide television for those who earn less than R2500, I think they have more important things to do with their money than go buy out a new recording device.

Thing is no matter what the excuse is, VCR"s still do exist and CTV should not be broadcasting on a frequency that they use. It is common sense.

BTW what does logging onto Myadsl have to do with things, please stay on topic.

I can't believe anyone (who still uses a VCR) uses the RF output on their VCR for playback.

since they started the tv channels we recieve have all gone slightly crappy :( and it use to be crystal clear :(

only thing interesting on there is late night documentaries tho sometimes it sucks or stupid or they stop it in the middle of nowhere and play something else

If you're all about recording stuff off tv, I can direct you to the nearest HiFi Corp where you can probably find a cheap DVD Recorder, with a built-in tv tuner, for under R1000.
