I just came across this, just thought I'll share the link because it's interesting and wasn't aware of this.

"A judicial review into a proposed referendum question on Alberta separating from Canada begins Wednesday."

PS: When will the forum be fixed, not being able to use bold and italics is making me crazy...

Is yours working on your phone, I've always just used Google Chrome just through my phone.

Dammit... it's those VIP membership privileges I don't have 🥹🥺🥹🥺

I don't have a smartphone, PC only with Ubuntu or Windows using Firefox.

Irrelevant.

They revolted over taxes and political abuse... the stated rationale is right there in the Declaration of Independence.

'taxation without representation'

If you look up the definition of secession, that's what it was/is.

No secessionist starts a war.

They're too busy looking forward to freeing up their abused resources, time and effort.

No secessionist ever starts a war with the motherland.

It' purely self-defense, in every case of a physical conflict.

Secessionist have nothing to gain from starting a war. They just want a government of, by and for them, the people.
You spout complete nonsense. Complete denial is evident. As is fanaticism.

@lexity what's your thoughts on the following, just out of interest sake.

What does Alberta Sovereignty mean?

"Alberta sovereignty is NOT a “Right” or “Left” issue. All Albertans will benefit, regardless of one’s political leanings.
Alberta sovereignty pragmatically means freedom from persecution; politically,
economically, and culturally from federal control, as well as from the UK, Europe, China, the WEF and the WHO. "

Now, now. His philosophy just not familiar to you, remember you've been absent a loong time.

Fanaticism? Yep, think you're on to something there..

Lexie would disagree with you there, I think. Philosophy is an intellectual exercise; secession is a goal - no matter how foolish.

I'm sure the poor Albertans are being horribly persecuted by Europe and China. ☹️ Sounds like another nutter-driven secession attempt.

An immediate refugee programme is required. Perhaps someone will put them on a plane to SA, as that seems to be the latest trend. They could be given Albertinia, just to help them settle in and feel at home. Just need to supply some snow machines and stuff.

Last I looked the support level for Alberta independence was at 29%.

A level which is considered quite high, according the Albertan premier herself... who I might add is not - according to my own judgement - willing to separate from the other Canadian provinces.

The CIM's support for independence has reached 58%, in 2023, and currently (2025 poll) stands at 43%.
