If you were making a claim that you could prevent rape from happening then yes, you should either be able to point to an example of somewhere where rape does not occur or make a compelling case as to how your solution would solve it.

We know you can't show us even one actual, state with your magical free market so the alternative is for you to make a reasoned and logical argument as to why Lexistan would be the best society for everyone involved. One that solves the problems of consumers getting screwed by shoddy products, them having to conduct their own verifications of food hygiene, health and safety etc. One that solves the issues of big businesses acting with impunity for short term profits....
So we don't have an example where individuals continued to secede when the formula for a flourishing ,prosperous economy was abandoned.

Now what?

Because they abandoned the formula, the formula itself was the problem?

Beggers can't be choosers.

Why do you need proof before you look at a theory?

Are things not bad enough?

That's most probably the case, for you personally, right Brian_G?

Nope.
We have looked at some theory(ies), and some of us want to believe.... but you've become shy with showing the quality stamp of approval within your arguments. That's the meat needed - but maybe it's less about you being shy, and more about there being nothing solid enough to build on?

I mean, how exactly do you keep criminals in power in check?

(For me personally?
Not too bad, I keep things going. Where I live might not change it.)

I mean, how exactly do you keep criminals in power in check?

^^ What I'm saying is, those criminals seep into ALL societies. And no society in existence has been able to completely eradicate them.....

Because they abandoned the formula, the formula itself was the problem?
Your forumula is theoretical and unproven. Your "flourishing economy" might happen but at what societal cost. You need to demonstrate that the benefits or a thriving economy outweigh all the problems associated with your society. Or you have to come up with sensible solutions to the obvious problems inherent with a "free for all"

I mean, how exactly do you keep criminals in power in check?
:ROFL::ROFL::ROFL::ROFL::ROFL:

How many times? Have I not demonstrated the thing powerful criminals fear the most.

It always comes back to the 'mytheory' post.

You don't have a reason to pay attention.

With the might of the State at your disposal, you don't have to win by argument alone.

That's why you don't really go for self-education. Instead it's for others prove to you that you don't need that special legal privilege.

Why?

You keep doing this, Grant.

If I can't show you 2 nations in which rape no longer happens, I should no longer make the argument against rape(/for consensual sex), on the 'Exit Rape' thread?

Why?
why
why
why , you ask
so we can see how these states operate under your lofty ideals.
so they do not exist, no state exists under your delusional ramblings

I have no doubt in my abilities to persuade, but when it comes to biological reductionists...... persuasion is an exercise in futility.

Persuasion is for those who already believe that, by paying attention, their abilities and potential for escaping a socio-economic moras increases.

🤷‍♂️

:ROFL::ROFL::ROFL::ROFL::ROFL:

... blah, blah, blah...

Yeah, you're talking about suppliers of services having to prove their worth by example alone.

See - I haven't forgotten :D

BUT..... we have also determined (after many, many, many, many moons) that some kind of government would still be needed, and therefore that such society will still have the criminal needed-business-controls manipulations seen in ALL societies.

So we're back at step 1 again, ne

That's why you don't really go for self-education...

I've been self-educating all my life. But the subjects I choose would not excite you ;- )

There we go.

Why ask for a theoretical model you might not have seen, when you've already made up your mind?

Around and around we go......

... it's almost as though some of you learn at the rate of...... biological evolution.
no lex

its time for you to learn your libertarian philosophy has failed everywhere.
and i'll remind you this thread is about cape independence, not some hare-brained failed philosophy - take that claptrap to a different thread

Just so we're all clear.... there was always:

1) a week-end,

2) a middle-class.

Nobody actually did anything, to achieve these conditions.

These things came to us of their own accord... one day they just fell out of the sky.... probably a coincidence.

🤷‍♂️

I don't want your "persuasion" - that's just snake dancing tricks. I want facts that determine enough certainty.
No.

You don't, actually.

I have given you enough facts that clearly show that the more one implements the free market formula, the better the tangible results were, in the past.

Each time I did this, you went away 'satisfied'.....only to return hours, days or weeks later, having reverted to your default position i.e. the past is no longer relevant, and most don't go for a working formula.

Example

Joe tells Jane that if he puts his thingamajig in her walawala they can make a baby.
Jane doesn't believe him, thinks he has other, perverted reasons for doing such crazy stuff.

Joe shows her a doccie that explains the whole thing, with practical examples. There's little doubt left. Jane opens her legs

Each time I did this, you went away 'satisfied'.....

What made you think I was then satisfied enough? Those discussions just naturally ended.

The free market formula you speak of may very well help, but it won't solve the criminal issue. It can't. Nothing can.

Only checks and balances endlessly fine tuned can do enough.

This particular analogue has been brought to Brian_G's attention 3 or 4 times....

Does it make a single jot of difference to his dogged disbelief in adhering to a formula that gets results if you just stick to it?

#fingers-in-ears

What's weird is that, even with regulations relating to financial disclosure, environmental regulations, health and safety etc, we still get businesses taking short cuts and trying to screw over the consumer for their own gain. Yet somehow thinks that the way to solve that is.....less regulation?

I have literally proved to you how to solve 90% of crime, overnight.

I did this quite recently.

Here we are back at 'nothing can be done' again....

Above my pay-grade.
