Hi guys.

I am currently with WA on a 4mbps uncapped account. I'm getting pretty sick of the shaping though on their stupid star system so i would like to change to an unshaped option. The uncapped and unshaped packages are a bit out of my price range so i want to go with a capped account.

Between AH and WA's capped accounts, which would you guys recommend? Or should i look somewhere else altogether. I would like to stay with WA since i also have my adsl line rental with them, but i will change if necessary.

Thanks for the advice.

How much do you download a month during the day?

you know the 10Meg home package has much higher thresholds and cheaper than 4meg Business right?

10Meg home: R499
4Meg Business: R699

My advice is run the 10meg Home package on your 4Meg line.

If you do decide to go for capped, I would recommend WebAfrica over Afrihost.

I get better pings with WebAfrica, a few people have complained about streaming on Afrihost capped as well - I haven't had any issues with WebAfrica capped.

Crystal Web for uncapped, I have only heard good things about them.

I moved from AH capped to WA capped no problems so far, streaming Netflix in HD without buffering on 20 VDSL during the day and evenings. Get 60+60 For R199 instead of 50+50 for the same price at AH...

I do about 60-70 gigs month.

I decided to go with a 60+60 capped WA account.

Thanks guys!

There's way you got shaped doing 60-70megs on a 4meg home account.

You're lying through your teeth.

Lol why on earth would i lie about that?

Here's a screenshot of my usage page on WA with my uncapped account. I've done about 70 gigs so far this month, which is relatively more than usual because my brother was here a few weeks ago and did some downloading. I am currently on a 3 star rating. A few days ago i was on 2.

Some people like to troll about ISPs they don't like. I take it all that usage was during the day?

That's still very little though.

I would also recommend an IS account like WebAfrica. I've never had consistent results with Afrihost and there always seems to be something going wrong with their network.

Yes, Most of it was during the day. And it is very little usage. Which is why i was surprised when i started getting shaped. My download speeds dropped to about 40kbps during the day for the past few weeks.
