Car accident without insurance

Ironically it was the guy smashing into me. We exchanged numbers and I thought it was minor damage, turns out it was far worse than I thought, but luckily insurance is paying it. He called me the other day wanting to get a second quote but the insurance had already started the repair process, and asked me for advice on what to do coz he didn't have that kind of money. I thought I would ask because I couldn't find any threads on it already

It's not your problem.

Refer him to your insurance and let them deal with it...that's what you pay them for.

Try not to get to involved. Ask him to contact your insurance and negotiate with them. This tends to bite you in the behind afterwards. This I learned the hard way. :(

Yip. In a past incident I mentioned to the insurance company that I will ask the other person (cant remember what it was) and they said under no circumstances am I to talk to the other person directly. That is their job.

Care to elaborate?

Actually still ongoing. Old lady drove into my wife and she was still friendly with the lady. Afterwards she became difficult because she said our car had no damage but we are claiming and both her and our insurance are blaming her for the incident which she believes was not her fault.

I just send all her messages to my broker who send it on to their legal department to contact her. She was quite upset.

Car had very minor damage, only some small hairline cracks in the bumper and chipped paint but I booked it in for repair.

So my advice so sts is to just refer the other party to your insurance and don't try to be friendly.

It's usually part of your policy conditions...which nobody reads of course.

You are also not allowed to admit guilt in any way.

Hi guys,

Say hypothetically I were to smash into someone and I didn't have insurance, and the insurance company is now calling me threatening to take me to court. What would be the best way of paying back the money or seeking help in paying it back? Besides a loan?

I'm asking on behalf of a guy who is desperate and not lucky to have insurance and a forum full of knowledge

Agree to the damages owed if reasonable and agree to a payment plan with them. It's interest free and you can agree to an amount you can afford. Don't take a loan. But it's probably best going to court as instead of having to pay 100% of the damage you might end up paying 50% but I don't think you can negotiate the terms then.
