Car advice - Dodge or Renault

Hi Team
This is my first post here,
Question: I am interested in getting a new car and was looking at a 2009 Dodge Caliber SXT (109000km) going for R110 00 and 2008 Renault Megane GT (88000km) going for R129900.
Problem is I am not familiar with the Dodge and not sure what problems other peaople have experienced on this car, the Megane I have some knowledge as I currently have a 1.9DCi that i will trade in ( has done 162000km with no problems)

The Dodge was my second option but not sure if I will still like it in a year from now (feel like it is a bit boring)

Megane is m first choice and this will be my third Renault car
 
Dodge seems to be pulling out the SA market... so spares could become a problem in the future.

They only retailing one model now, the Journey, no longer selling the Caliber.
 
I wouldn't get either, the old body Megane is super outdated now and spare parts will cost you small fortune.

Just to add something else, I found that price high and did a quick search for you and saw a black 2008 Renault MEGANE II 2.0T GT with 50000 KM for R125k so I think that price is way too high.

Sheesh, I wouldn't get either ever but I guess if you forced me then the Renault.

Caliber was discontinued. We will probably see the Dart here soon. Caliber shares a lot of parts with the Compass, so parts should not be a problem. Interior quality of pre-2011 models was not very good...
 
Renault and Dodge should be on your Not-To-Buy list, what's on your Good-Car list ?
 
Dude, look elsewhere!! :) If you really really had to take the Renault. But hope and pray all is in order with thatcar.

The irony being that Re-NO spares are a problem already.. :p
 
the thing is I can take the VW G5 but the prices are a bit too high for their KM, hey frailwings can you share the link for that meg sport...that seems better n maybe can negotiate a lower price. On the other hand just saw a 2009 KIA Koup going for R139900 and I am begining to like it; what do you think of that car. I know my choices are a bit odd
 
I probably wouldn't buy either to be honest, but most definitely not the Renault...especially not second hand.

I am also considering that option, was looking at Ford Figo and polo Vivo, can get a 2012 Figo for R99900 and that I can tell you looks very interesting....with a small deposit repayment will be R2100 for 48 months.

I have been given that advice before I even bought my first Reanult, an I can tell you I've nothing but good experiance with them..it's a nice car but you have to maintain it well, bought the 1.9DCi in 2009 without even warranty, never skipped a service and never had problems but now wear and tear is starting to be a problem
