Car Advice

Warranty should cover anything and everything within reason.

I mean if you did <20 000km and your brake discs are fried that should be covered under the Warranty. If you did 50 000km though then it's obviously a maintenance part and should be covered as such.

That being said a Service Plan should do the job for anyone really.

The OP stated that his budget is around 180k. That puts a 2nd hand focus in his strike range. Either a 2012 1.6 Ambiente or 1.8SI 2011 - both in a hatch. The focus has exellent economy, a pleasure to drive and has a lot of boot space and good performance behind it too.

I am not saying that ANY of the other cars mentioned are not as good, merely pointing out that for his budget he can look at higher entry price cars 2nd hand that might offer a bit more. :)

surely one can get much more for R180k. like a GTi with lekker rims and sound too! now thats a students car.

why would you wana waste decent money for a car like that. OP should get a more modern car with all the extras. KIA or the new Polo range will fit his profile.

i was joking.

we all have different tastes, hence i asked why other criteria would he be looking for?

why boot space?
why speed/performance?
whats his location?
distance from college?
will he be travelling alot?
what type of roads?
will he keep the car for 5 years?
is he paying cash or financed?
does he need other features like cruise control, auto, leg room in front and rear?
how fat is he? at 120kg, a picanto may work for some but not others.

the OP has disappeared...for a while now.
