Car Alternator

What else can we do? it's either this or stick and paste, I will choose this over stick and paste any time.

Problem is that genuine enquiry threads like this get drowned in the sea of crap that the motoring sub-forum has become. Maybe one day they’ll give us a sub-forum to actually talk about cars instead of one for pasting repeats of marketing hype from car makers.

I have highlighted this to rpm. Relevant discussions are drowned out by FiestaST's news posts. But alas...

Drowned out and many won’t even get started, because what used to be a fun part of my day - checking out the motoring stuff, has become a scroll fest, and I usually don’t make it past the second page of Fiesta’s adverts.

I used to be very active in this forum. I don't even bother. Only here now cause this was move here.

Ok so the drama is over, my alternator is back in action.

Turns out the Bosch regulator was toast and the bearings were gone. The electrician refurbished the Bosch and installed it.

The Midas alternator was not installed correctly, it needed the correct wiring. He was willing to wire it correctly but recommended that repairing the Bosch and reinstalling it was a better option.

So I opted for the Bosch. Cost me R1450. Only took 3 hrs to complete.

Thanks guys for all the help.

Next time it fails I'm gonna refurbish it myself, with your help ofcourse and the help of YouTube.
Now I know better.

F##k yeah!
Electrician wasn't too expensive, just image all the hassle you'd have avoided if you'd gone straight there, easy to say in retrospect though.

Like I said, now I know better.
But the next time I'm doing it myself for sure.

Glad you came right. I'll refrain from using the "I told you so" line
