Car Audio recommendations

Speakers are only blown by underpowered amplifiers when you drive the amp into distortion. Poor quality brands like starsound will over rate their wattage and will emphasize the wattage the amplifier will make if powered by a bolt of lightening, whilst the better quality like alpine, hertz, audison, mosconi will give the rms rating that the amplifier can make whilst being powered from a cars electrical system. Matching of the rms or continuous power rating of speakers and amplifiers should yield the best results.

so for the 6x9s that i have chosen, can you recommend an amp, and why?

I would probably go for the Targa Warrior Series 4/3/2ch 90rms Amplifier from autostyle, http://www.autostyle.co.za/car-audio/car-amplifiers-crossovers/targa-warrior-series-4-3-2ch-90rms-amplifier.html, reasons Targa is one of the cheap brands that have a decent sound for their cheap price. As I could not find the actual specifications I'm not really sure of their specifications which would probably be something like 90x4@2ohms, 45x4@4ohms, and about 150x2@4ohms bridged. So I would just bridge the amplifier to run the 6x9's and call it a day. If you set on 6x9's then this should be more than good enough for you, having good sound in your vehicle means to have a sound system that sounds good to you. I would personally go for a set of 5.5inch splits up front and an 8 inch sub, a 4 channel amp to power it, and a minidsp to tune it.

I agree with this. I would rather buy an oldschool calibra or Alpine amp promising 50w per channel as opposed to a Starsound claiming 500w.
If you can get hold of one, buy a Baseline 502 or 702. Run the splits/6x9 off each channel, and bridge a sub.
