Car Battery Replacement

BatteryCenter want to charge me R1800 (652C) or R2300 (658C) including taking my current battery. (An extra R170 if not) - this for a Raylite Battery.
Vonde Batteries in Maitland are more reasonable asking for ~R1500 an Exide or Willard 658C.

I quickly discovered that BatteryCenter prices are uber inflated hence my posting a feeler here for potential sources.

You can also try CAE (Cape Auto Electric) close to Vonde in Maitland. They're cheaper than Vonde and longer warranty. They also do a full auto electrical test free of charge. I bought a Sabat battery from them earlier in the year and they do Delco as well I think.

I ended up going with CAE. Paid R899 for a 652 SABAT battery with 1 year warranty (instead of a 652 with 18 month warranty at R1010 :/). After installing it, they "did a test and it looked like I needed a new alternator". Since I couldn't afford it anyway, said I'd come back for that. Went to my mechanic and he did the "home test" (removing a terminal on the battery and observing that car remains running on power produced) - that was successful.

When i bought my battery from them earlier in the year they test alternator as well when the battery was fitted but everything was in order. I didn't know they do Sabat with one year warranty. At the time they had another brand with 1 year. I think it was Delta or Deltic. Anyway i just went with the Sabat. When i phoned them beforehand someone quoted for the battery and when i got there they saw that the wrong battery was quoted for and i needed a bigger battery. They fitted the bigger battery for the price of the smaller one that was originally quoted.
 
I thought I'd phone VW to get a quote on a replacement battery for my car and they quoted me R3294 excluding VAT with 12 month warranty:sick:
Then I called CAE for a Sabat battery and they quoted me R870 with 18 month warranty including fitment. The Sabat 12 month warranty battery was R765.
