I have to replace my car battery. 2003 Hyundai Getz 1.6 and the battery number is 619.

Can I go bigger, since I want to do a small sound setup as well? One amp, maybe 2 small ones and a 12" sub. Nothing huge...

I do not know much about car batteries sharky just check though as the hyundais I believe you a funny battery holder, so whatever you get best check that it will fit

Also I would check direct with a place like the dealer or battery centre to see what you can put in.

Replaced the GF's the other day, think it was a 639 we put in,just had to change the clamps that connect to the terminals too

I did have a look yesterday and it seems that I can put a bigger (physically) battery in, but I was wondering about the amps and shyte, since I know nothing about these things as well. :o

PsyWulf, how much did you pay and where? I know these things are heavy expensive and am obviously looking for the best deal...

The 639 was basically a higher capacity same load battery,so it would work with the current alternator, just take longer for full charge :)

Was 780 bucks with the clamps if memory serves, cant remember the place's name, can check though, was in edenvale

Good prices normally at Midas but you replace buttery yourself.

The clamp size on a 619 is the standard size. Its only the 616/615 that has the smaller clamps.

You could easily go up to a 628 (50 amps as apposed to 40 amps on the 619). That should be an adequate boost for a smallish sound system.

If there is space you could even stick a 652 in there, but usually it takes a bit of modification. Keep in mind that if you go huge with sound you will need a bigger alternator too. Its pointless having a big ass battery and cap but not having the power in the alternator to charge it.

Please, dont buy a battery at a spares shop unless you know what you're doing and how to make sure the alternator is working correctly and so on. Otherwise it may just end in tears.
Rather go to a battery centre and let them test your battery and fit a new one if necessary.

Most places will do fitting, free of charge. They need the old battery back as "scrap" in any case(It's the law).

Thanx guys, will go to a battery center then. By the sound of it, a 628(9) should be fine then.

Does not matter. They spec the battery according to electrical requirements. More Amps won't hurt seeing it will only deliver what is drawn from it. Same goes for electrical power supplies etc. ;)

If it fits physically and the clamps are the same no problemo.

I need a new 650C battery for my 2.5tdi Mazda.... I'm not very clued up on electrickery, so any advice please on recommended brands/spec. would be greatly appreciated.
Phone around and asked how much for a 650c battery, go to the cheapest place for the brand you like. I personally, am ok with SABAT/Willards. Others like different brands.
