I'm planning to buy two vehicles and I'm not sure which or what to buy. My budget are R 900 000. One would be for everyday car and the other a weekend car.
Hoping someone can help me here.

What I'm looking at:

1965 VW Notchback 1500 or a 1967 BMW 2000 C
2010 VW Vivo
1996 Mitsubishi GTO or 1998 FTO
2014 Demo Suzuki Kizashi
2005 Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 8
Honda Ridgeline

Currently I'm more interested in the Vivo and VW Notchback or a 1967 BMW 2000 C but not sure if its a good buy.

Any suggestions.

wow, that's quite a range of cars...I think you answered your own question.

The vivo, notchback and bmw are your top choices so i guess go with one of those?

It's kind of hard to offer an opinion when you've given such a varied list, no budget and no parameters.

Could you be a bit more specific on what you are looking for and what you need to have in a car?

Get the 1967 BMW 2000 C and some modern piece of crap to drive to work.

This is what I did. I bought a Toyota Etios for R110k to run around and buying the Audi SQ5 within a month for weekend driving.

Hmm not sure I understand this.

I suppose our situations are all different and different stokes for different folks and all that but:

Why spend 1 bar on a car and only use it a handful of times a month. I could perhaps understand a track focused car (Skyline) or proper 4x4(Old Land Rover) but something like a SQ5 can fulfill the bling, sportiness, provide a safer and MUUUCH more comfortable daily drive than the Etios. Must suck struggling in traffic in a p o s (sorry)

yeah I don't get it either.

If I was happy to drive an Etios some of the time I would just drive one all of the time and save the SQ5's money.

Or skip the Etios and just buy the SQ5.

Of course you would think an Etios is a POS , because you don't appreciate what these little POS's can do.

Its very light so it 'runs' . I can fly over speeds bumps like they're not there. Its very light on fuel.
It doesn't break down easily ( car hitting 33k km's and not a single part replaced considering I drive like M.S ).

Car takes me from A to B and even though I have the opportunity of using my wife's MK7 GTI , I still opt for the Etios because of the points mentioned above. Oh and best part of all, it gives me great satisfaction when many 'nice' cars taste my Etios dust !

We are different people with different lifestyles. I am happy the way i live and the way i use my money.

Peace, out !

1. I think you missed my point and focused on the POS part. My point again, why drive around in a poverty spec car when you have a 1 bar palace on wheels in the garage?
2. There is a place for small cheap cars, I have no qualms there. I just find the Etios the worst of the lot (yes I've had the misfortune of driving in 2 seperate Etios) Hell even Toyota salesmen on this forum say stay away.
3. 33 000KM without replacing a part is hardly worth writing home about.
4. If you like the Etios so much and prefer it to a g7 GTI why waste a fortune on a Audi SQ5?

For sure. I just don't quite understand the logic.

Why bother with the SQ5 at all then? Just stick to the Etios?

1. Can I drive the gti fast over speed bumps? No!
2. Can I hammer the gti and not expect problems? No!
3. Both my MKV and MKVI gti's break pads had to be replaced by 18k Km's ( normal driving with the full the throttle here and there)
4. Etios is a Monday to Friday work run around, also dropping my kids to school in the morning driving on gravel road for 2km.
5. Can the gti drive on gravel roads with holes the size of a car itself? No!
6. The same reason why people buy million rand luxury cars to drive them once a month, I want to buy an Audi SQ5 for the weekend(s).

Poverty spec'd car works for 'me'...
Opinions opinions ....
