Car buying tips for 2016 in SA

My tips:

1. avoid any car with a e-Tag already fitted
2. avoid any car with integrated Google/Android/Apple or similar "Cloud" technology
3. avoid any car with a GPS that phones home
4. avoid any car with features that look forward to "future road infrastructure initiatives"
5. avoid any self-driving car (ie. prison shuttles)

You are a pro conspiracy theory paranoid tin foil hat wearing nutter aren't you?

Yes, those are often the labels applied...doesn't mean it's bad advice though :p

Can I ask what kind of phone you use? And which computer, ISP and bank you prefer?

Why do you trust any of these service providers?

If you consider how often you actually need the spare and the price you pay for space inside, repair kits make a lot of sense.

Until the day you hit a pothole and buckle the rim... Then the repair kit can't help and you're stuck.

My daily has this. It does worry me.

N14 is nicer now yes, but there's often small debris of some kind on it, how's the R511?

Haven't driven it in a few months. Last time it was under major construction, real ballache.

A proper spare wheel that you can change despite the state of the current wheel after you drove over stones left on the N2 in Cape Town and in SA is more like staying-alive-insurance vs Europe where some stupid tyre repair kit might be enough...

Hell, have double insurance, have a spare wheel AND a tyre repair kit :D

I was being sarcastic, to mock the post quoted. And being realistic, because the vehicle financiers requires one to have comprehensive insurance.

Ah. My own fault for not reading of each step up.

So on topic yes. You need a spare wheel. But I'd go on e step further. Full sized spare. Not that marie biscuit space saver crap.
