Hey guys,

I don't know what to get or to look for. :( Been looking for almost 2 months now and can't decide. I have 3 candidates so far.

+- 1995 Mazda MX6
+- 2000 Nissan Sentra 160GXI
+- 2002 Tazz 130 + AC

I've had a MX6 before and love this car to bits, but everyone is saying that they are 2 old now and parts are scares.

I've had a Nissan Sentra 200STI before and it is my 2nd favourite car car of all time. Can't get them in this price range though.

Never had a change and would rather go for the 1600. Could get one for R42k, but it slipped through my hands. ;(

It will be my daily driver and a cash buy. I am done spending 2 much of my monies on a car, but obviously want the best for my price.

Any ideas? :D

I had a nissan sentra 140gxi. Brilliant cars, very solid reliability and good performance.

I wish I still had it :(

Honestly you can't go wrong with a tazz or a conquest. There is an infinite supply of spare parts and a well looked after conquest runs forever. I really miss mine.

honda or merc

I was looking at mercs, but I am afraid they will costs as much as BMWs to maintain.

Same here, really miss my MX6 and 200STI.

This is the only reason why I am looking at the Tazz, but have to say that it isn't my favourite car. Personally, I think they are very overpriced.

Older mercs arent very expensive to maintain. Get a 190E 2.0 which is a lot sportier than the 124 series. Dont get a C Class - they are expensive to maintain.

Or get a 1990-1994 320E.

If you want mind blowing driving experience, then get Alfa 156, 2 L Twinspark, you wont regret it, the engine is almost bullet proof.

Don't buy a Sentra. If I were you, I would definitely look at buying a Jetta 3.

I drive a 2001 Nissan Almera, its been a good car to me. If you search I'm pretty sure you could find one in the region of R45 000. If you manage to up your budget to R50 000 - R60 000 there is a lot more of a choice. But yeah stick to what ever you can afford :)

Had a Jetta 4 1.8T (132kw) and that is the reason why I am looking for a car now. It gave me so much shyte and the costs was enough for a new car. NEVER AGAIN VW!

Can'r really stretch my budget, but ja, there are a lot more choices when looking at R50k - R60k. :(

You could possibly even get a new dash polo 1.4 for that. Otherwise you can't go wrong with the Jetta/Golf 3 - mine is on 275 000 kms, never touched the engine.

Well, then you are lucky.

On 66k kilos cam belt broke and bent all 20 valves - very costly
On about 80k kilos, clutch k@ked
On about 110k kilos, oil pump k@k, or that is what the service sentre said, cause 3 months later it went in for the same problem and then it was the oil pickup pipe.
On 115k, had to replace all the shocks, brake discs and brake pads, so tata Jetta!
