Car for R40k

Golf 2 1.8 16V GTi
Conquest RSi Twincam (the facelifted one, not the boxy shape)

I know that they're a bit older, but they are awesome cars, and two cars that I always wanted but decided to buy new instead.

I owned both when new, and they certainly were awesome, the sad thing is that you will find very few decent ones 20 odd years down the track. 99% have had the living hell driven out of them. :(

Nissan 200sx? :D

I owned one for several years and it never gave me one single hassle, but good luck finding one that isn't completely poked...

Parts weren't the cheapest either actually...

I haven't seen one in all my searches.

/Drool. K@k wheels though.

My neighbour has a silver one and the bastard refuses to part with it :(

The sabre looks pretty clean!

Just get it checked out before you buy.

I had a friend who had the previous shape (1992ish) Sabre 200GXI. His dad hammered it for 280000km (he drove the nuts off it) and then when my mate got it he hammered the crap out of it to well over 300000km. That car ran beautifully, but some of the electrics were troublesome.

I know, was just saying :p

Anyway go with the Nissan. You'll be thankful for the A/C, especially if it's going to be for everyday use.

I'm thinking sabre as well, just hope it really is as good as it looks on the fotos.

Well, then you are lucky.

On 66k kilos cam belt broke and bent all 20 valves - very costly
On about 80k kilos, clutch k@ked
On about 110k kilos, oil pump k@k, or that is what the service sentre said, cause 3 months later it went in for the same problem and then it was the oil pickup pipe.
On 115k, had to replace all the shocks, brake discs and brake pads, so tata Jetta!

AFAIK the Jetta wasn't released in a 20v version. My Jetta (the older one with a carb) has 8 valves. Its cambelt did break while I was driving, but luckily for me the 8v engines will not bend their valves when this happens. Also, I think that the polos have 8v motors too ...
