Car for Triplets

Pretty sure 3 babies will fit.
Wait till they're 5 years old.
Unless you need an excuse to buy a car.

Not in car seats they won't.

Unless maybe someone makes a single piece car seat that supports three kids, that would work but the standard seats would mean there isn't space for a third in the middle and no way to harness it even if there was.

I had a Polo, one barely fitted properly.

Have you decided what pram you are getting, a triplet pram or a double plus a single? This will help in deciding boot space. The "multiple seating" prams are usually bigger and bulkier.

My VW Touran comfortably fitted the Graco duoglider and Chelino side by side, plus groceries etc.

Also fits 3 rear facing car seats with bases and 3 forward facing car seats.

Not sure how much they are second, but its worth a look.

They are expecting triplets, how must he maintain a Q7?

yeah some dumb suggestions

a honda or toyota or VW should be cheap to maintain

i like a FRV so rather get something like that and you can pick it up for around R120k for a nice one

the jazz is a very good car and you should get some good money back if you going to trade it in or sell it

is there even a brand which makes twins car seats ?

OP can check gumtree for some good 2nd hand bargains and facebook groups

Guess I had small seats... because 3 would easily fit. The rear-facing cradles even more so.

The 3 seat belts alone should be enough to anchor them (although don't expect to be able to take them out).

Here's a link to show that 3 will fit: http://www.thecarcrashdetective.com/2014/08/3-across-installations-fit.html/

Well I'll be damned.

It's not like I measured it so was just going by memory and how now much space is left next to it even with just a single seat installed.

The older Jazz with the seatbelt from the ceiling for middle passenger might be problematic but I'm sure if they are narrow enough there should be a hack somehow.

Hi All.

Just found out a few days ago that we are expecting triplets. Still trying to get over the shock. We initially were told twins, but it's definitely 3!

Anyway, we have a Honda Jazz, which we thought would have been OK for 2, but know it isn't big enough for 3 critters with car seats and mass of accessories.

Does anybody have experience with having to transport 3 children, car seats etc and what car they recommend?

I haven't got tons of cash, for massive vehicles, but any tips, ideas and experiences will be welcomed.

Thanks!

Honda FRV, Mazda5 or Suzuki Ertiga.

Hi everyone.

Some awesome ideas and responses here. Too much to quote everyone.

We really enjoy the Jazz, but I think even if we could fit all 3 seats, it will be cramped for sure.

I agree that we will more than likely wait to see what will happen with the pregnancy as it is a very high risk pregnancy and all 3 may not make it. Although if it's 2, a bigger car is probably still needed.

I definitely will check gumtree for car seats, prams etc.

I read that isofix is not necessary but makes things much easier.

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions! Especially the McLaren!

You'll probably find that a bigger car is only marginally bigger and doesn't make all that much of a real world difference.

ISOFIX is a nice to have but is horribly expensive and if you ever need to say give the seat to granny you end up using the normal seatbelt system anyway.

I know it's a lot more tricky with three of them but I would rather play it by ear and see how it goes first. For instance in our case we got the pram and all that (fortunately as a gift) and maybe used it once and never again as it was simply too unwieldy and took up too much space etc.

In your case you'll certainly need it, but it's just an example.

I can think of probably a 100 items of various crap we got or bought that was never used and if I do it again things will be simplified a hell of a lot more.

Jazz will not fit 3x front facing seats in the back. Period.
If you go the base + piccolo route for the first 12 months, it will fit two at most.

My choice will be this:
http://www.autotrader.co.za/used-ca...mbition--fpa-8a81c7ca5b0e4ad0015b0e933bea2f7f

just make sure about the oil consumption on these 1.8T's...

The A4 is only about 5cm wider than the Jazz (granted probably measured at the mirrors) so not sure how much real world space there would be inside.

Also the A4 has more sporty rear seats (bucketed left and right with hump in middle) while the Jazz has more of a flat bench.

So it could result in being much of a muchness.

The Jazz is also taller which makes it easier to load into than the A4. It's after all the most wheelchair friendly car out there for this very reason.

I not sure if it will fit. But the Jazz is very roomy at the back.

My wife have a Jazz and yes she did once needed to transport two toddlers with seats and 3 adults. It was a squeeze (sitting sideways) for the one mom in the middle back.
I agree on the Jazz roominess and space on inside, but it is not THAT big.
Even doubt that a double cab bakkie will fit 3 seats in the back....

o wait, bakkies don't have isofix... :erm:
