I am currenlty using a 17 year old car. Never bought a new one because of how high insurance would be.

Now I decide I want to buy a Honda Jazz as I was told by the car dealer its not a high theft vehicle.

I've not had an accident in the past 5 years.
I've had a license for 17 years.
Garage in security complex with electric gate. Good residential area.
Work has secure parking with security guard.
I only drive from home to work and work and back.
Not buying a high theft vehicle

I looked for an ad at outsurance

OUtsurance poster girl R485pm for a 2015 Polo 1.2 TSI. Trendline 24 year old.

I compared the new car price of the car 2015 Honda Jazz 1.2 Trend I want and it costs 25K less than a new 2015 Polo 1.2 TSI she has.

Phoned outsurance got a quote for R1,281.20 with excess of R3,820.00. 1070 for glass. I chose no temp car if my car is being repaired.

Can someone please explain how my insurance it 2.67 times more than hers?

I asked the guy who quoted me how can it be such a huge difference when her car is a high theft vehicle and is more expensive. He just said differnet profile and that she probably works at home and the colour I want it very expensive.

I ask what is the cheapest colour. He said white. R200 cheaper. I asked how much is pink. Not as cheap as white but R100 cheaper he says. But that still doesn't explain the big difference.

Shop around...

this ^^^

or as many on myBB will say check out a broker;

I always say, isnt that more expensive?

Im with king price paying R600 odd for a white picanto thats decided it likes garages:p

I would suggest you get some comparative quotes. Also, get some pricing on different cars too.
Don't just stick to one brand / make unless you are dead set on getting it.

Shop around...
Last year I did the whole shopping around thing. Insurance varied about R250 between cheapest and most expensive. I can't even come close to getting near double what she is paying

I use a broker, pay R1200 for a 2014 Spark, 2013 Cruze and household, car hire and excess waiver thrown in.

Don't use Outsurance.

That car should be <R500 if included with your house insurance and everything else.

Use a broker...dodging the middleman doesn't work like they claim.

My R200k Golf GTI is R493 with no excess.

if you drive a bently:p

aren't they more expensive than others?

Not really, but their support/admin is atrocious.

If I could move my Pension Fund away from them without it costing me money I would have done so in a heart beat.

I would have thought being a big bank it would be better;
surely they deal with the big money, so they cant have bad service;

or is their call center outsourced and that's why its so bad?

Firstly, Safiyah is damn hot.

Secondly, all those posters are bull**** and I am pretty sure if insurance companies did not have so many people in lets say the ASA in their pockets they would have had problems a long time ago.

All those adverts are crud. Hippo included. Online quotes always come in at only 60% of what you end up paying once you go through the hassle of the agent interrogating you.

Um I agree on the pension front. Insurance wise? No. Have someone I can call direct with all queries or I just send a mail. Quick and painless.
Cheapest place too.

Before the 5 years, were you in any major accidents?

Too high, I pay R300 (on an old Jazz with 60k book value though).
In fact, the total insurance including a new motorcycle, two building and home content insurance is less than your car.
