My contribution:

I have been with Discovery Insure for 3 yrs and received nothing but good service.

Like everyone in the world, except the stinking rich who dont care, I naturally shopped around to see if I could beat their price.

After many frustrating hours and days, I found them to be the cheapest, even tho they are rushing me R800 for my car.

I have alot of other items insured under the policy which gameplayers like outsurance cant match.

Um I agree on the pension front. Insurance wise? No. Have someone I can call direct with all queries or I just send a mail. Quick and painless.
Cheapest place too.

Look I'll be honest and say last time I dealt with the insurance side was probably about 10 years ago...but just the process of getting a quote out of them was shocking and left a bad perception with me.

Add the Pension Fund issues and I steer clear.

Seems they love employing fresh graduates who don't know what's potting, because every time I deal with them I see all their credentials in their signature and they graduated very recently...and know less than I do.

I use a broker, pay R1200 for a 2014 Spark, 2013 Cruze and household, car hire and excess waiver thrown in.

We used a broker and we went with Santam. Haven't looked back and no one can beat their quote.

OP,

Santam charges me less for 2 vehicles, and household insurane than outsurance wanted to charge for just the newer of the 2 vehicles.

For the "nicer, bigger " vehicle I pay under R800, on its own, and it's a V6.


Please call around to other insurance co's and brokers, then decide....

So will pointedly avoid discovery insurance.

This is what scares me about discovery insure,

Yes they wont officially use the info gathered,

But what stops a private investigator working for them?

They have deniability then; can say he got the info elsewhere,

Insurance will do anything to make sure they don't pay out, or at least as hard as possible
