Car insurance

You will still be billed again..

just make sure you have enough in the account for a double insurance bill for a few months... Dial Direct are useless in terms of billing.

I get billed on the 25th so I've already paid for next month. Thought I would be able to cancel sometime before the next debit and insure elsewhere from the end of next month. No biggie though, since I'll just get insured with whoever else a month later if I'm forced to stick it out with them for longer.

best bet is going to call and ask them cancellation policy. also watch them offer you a reduced rate when you say you want to cancel :D

If you're paying by debit order, you can reverse the debit order by asking your bank - I've done that a couple of times with Telscum
 
Your premium will go up from year to year. Dial Direct did the same thing to me. I phoned em and said I was very unhappy and that I am looking at other options. They quickly reversed the increase and kept it at the same amount as the previous year. You should also phone them regularly to adjust your cars Retail value as this goes down every month. The less your car is worth the less you will pay.
 
Anyone tried Discovery Insure? Got any info about it?

EDIT: To reply to my own post. I got a quote from Discovery Insure just for kicks, and it came in at 60% more than I'm currently paying :wtf:

Nope, sorry mate. But I got the best quote from Indwe Risk Services. Quoted me about R200 less for my car.. :)
 
I just halved, yes halved my insurance, by moving from Dial-Direct to ABSA iDirect! Great!
Used to pay R1435 at Dial-Direct and am now paying R722 at ABSA for EXACTLY the same coverage of car and house contents

and house contents R280k - No alarm connected to security company, No electric fence

but I have a 20 year claim free history :-)

WTF DUDE! All that at 26! Are you buddies with Juju or something?
 
4 months ago on my way from Pta, I hit a piece of metal (in the middle of N4!) and damaged my radiator and front bumper. My car is still at the panelbeaters. The panelbeater tried a few times to con me and I reported this to the insurer. I then requested that they send the car for a quality check. Few days ago, I called the insurer but they put me on hold and quickly knocked off. My insurer is Oakhurst Insurance.

I pay around R1750pm.
