I have always been a huge fan of how Mercedes does their interiors, yet sadly I cannot afford one. So I though it could be fun to find out what interiors other folks think are nice, classy or original. Share some of your favourite interiors.

To start off, I recently saw some one claiming this to be "best interior in the business"...

:erm: Well, maybe it copied the best in the business :D

I'm a huge fan of BMWs interior design.

It's ergonomic, aesthetically pleasing and everything flows together. Nothing looks like it was slapped on in the last minute.

Have to agree with that, BMW does make some classy cockpits. I also like that they gradually decreased the angle at which the centre console was turned towards the driver. Sure it does make it feel more like a drivers car but it is a little unpractical.

Edit : Not at all a fan of the sombre and boring interiors they have in Audi, especially it night it looks tired and tacky, a Forturener has a nicer looking cabin.

 lurking VAG threads to steal pics are you? I'll defend my car by pointing out the obvious, the pics you chose to swipe kinda don't show anything beyond the instrument lighting, and blurrily at that as it is a cell pic.. plus it is the bottom end Audi so can't go expecting the world.

On that note, aye some of those BMW's have very nice interiors, one of the nicer parts of those cars.

:D my apologies Debeer165 , I try not to reply in Audi threads because some people are way too serious. You know, the ones with a black and white cat that clicks the report button early in the morning, just as day is dawning

Glad to see most people agree on the BMW interiors, as much as I like Mercedes I will admit the E-Class looks a bit less tasteful than the 5-series.

Edit : The A1 and Astra cost about the same at R250k, however the interior in the Astra looks a bit more upmarket and cleanly executed.

I find BMW interiors to be very boring and dull.
To add to that the interiors seem to take a huge beating after a few years of ownership.
I way prefer the merc interiors to BMW.

Haha no harsh feelings. Just swipe pics which work for a more fair comparison next time please? Hmmm I know not of these cat having report button clickers you speak of, shall we organize a bit of vengeance?

Hmm yeah I think most agree on the BMW interior's to a point. One thing though, I think BMW lose the plot once you move up beyond the 5 series, both the 6 and 7 look like dogs to me inside and out... I'm sure they'd drive nicely but ugh no thanks not for me. 3 / 4 series I wouldn't mind having in the driveway, maybe a 2 if I hit big money while still young :D

The Volvo interior also just works and everything logical.

I like that Merc though

I find the interior of the 1998 Isuzu 250KB bakkie disturbingly nice and practical. It seems...I don't know....real and honest, not dressed up in a fake personality.

Merc interiors, and MBtex in particular, tends to outlast other cars. My folks have a W203 that is more than a decade old and those MBtex seats still looks and sits good as new. The display thankfully does not have any dead pixels, something a lot of Mercs in of that time seemed to have.

I'd say seeing as the A1 and Astra costs the same it is a fair comparison  but I suppose it is more on the A3 category, even then I would still take the Astra with its red glow

If it wasn't for their reliability I would def drive a Alfa just for their interiors. Look at this, the finishing in Alfa's are only matched by super cars. But damn these cars are crap :D

+1 for the KB. Those buttons on the side of to the speedometer binnacle in the '93 KB is almost more practical to me than having steering mounted controls.

Eh? That's an A3 brah. A1 is a bit too small and feminine for me hey, as decent a car it may be.

Won't disagree that there are huge differences between them.

However, while not a great car, it is a good car if you're the right person. Young woman or a small person, maybe a student getting a secondhand one for cheap? Go for it. It is a fancier revision of the Polo after all so it isn't like it's a Tata or anything like that

Lexus interior > BMW/Mercedes interior. Specifically talking about the new and old Lexus IS and the new GS vs 3 series/c class and 5 series/e class. Lexus is so underrated in SA. Brilliant, reliable cars.

I feel those new Audi interiors are just amazing. Merc is a tad too classic to me and BMW needs to be specced nicely to look good
