I heard on the radio the other day that you can renew you car license online.

Anyone done this and know where to go?

Still too much admin for me. Going to stick with paying the guy to do all the admin for me, and I just pick up my license from him.

You can also renew at the post office. Go to the sapo website to see which branches offer the service.

Its really quick if you have all the required documents.

Hmmm, payfine.co.za does not seem to know about my existing license renewal, even though I added my car months ago.

The option is "request new renewal" or "view renewal history".

Then it wants to charge me R45 for express and R16 for certified post or something along those lines, to have it delivered to me. Nowhere does it actually show the amount that needs to be paid or even acknowledges that there is an existing renewal outstanding.

Bleh, still too muddled up, will just go pay it at the post office >.<

I've used this service, R65 delivered to my door... about to use them again - if they reply to my email.

In addition to the actual cost of registration (like R300 odd)?

I've just filled in the online form at the link given, the official government one. Let's see what happens - it takes two working days.

I'm in Cape Town and I usually phone the licensing department's tel number on my license renewal form and tell them that I'd like to pay by EFT.
They then give me a unique reference number which I have to put into the beneficiary reference on my transaction ... and 'Bob's your Uncle' ... my new disk arrives in the mail a few days later.
And no extra charges either.

Yeah Greggle, I'm hoping for something similar without even having to speak to a human being.

....runs back to basement.

Just kidding.

But really, runs back to basement.

I read somewhere that enatis will be one day be able to do it online.

At the post office their printer is sealed and twice I came their and ink was finish.

Once paid license by "tjekbook" [how do you spell that].
Later found the car was register on someone else's name.

Our license dept is a real pain. that is in the free state. When you go there you take a big newspaper with.

So I received a notice to renew (car disc) this morning in the post - it expired on 31 March 2015 :wtf:. Was not aware... Anyone renewed at the post office recently? Do I just take the notice and the renewal cash?

Yes, as well as some extra for the penalty you'll be paying.
