Hello folks...so earlier on today I had the pleasure of hanging out with the lovely folks from Car Mag & their very expensive toys for their Annual Performance Issue (January).
This was at Killarney Racetrack & it was just lovely.
I know a few of the members of Car Mag personally & had some great chats with Deputy Editor Mike. I also caught up with Sudhir & Wilhelm.
Spoke briefly to track tester & racing driver Deon as well.
I knew the previous Car Mag Editor; Hannes; who now works at cars.co.za
I saw current Editor Steve; didn't chat with him though.
Some observations before the wall of pics:
- All the cars from the Shootout; they did a long road trip with all the cars you see & a AMG GT S which was not present; Mike mentioned it was eating it's tyres & was getting fitted so it was not present.
- I also asked him any other cars they would liked to have & he said the Ferrari California T but as you know from TG Ferrari is very careful on his their image is portrayed.
- Ian stated the RS3 for us & gunned it...it sounds excellent; distinctive 5-cylinder soundtrack; kinda similar to old Focus ST & RS
- I was there when the MX5; SVR; X6 M & GLE 63 was on track & the SVR sounds like thunder! Wow
- As to expected you sit so low to the ground in that MX5; S2000 style yo
- Civic Type R styling is just so way out; seats so comfy as well.
- That RS6 looks the part...!
- That Alfa is a limited edition local development; only 100; it's tuned by RGM & does about 210kw from a 1.75 motor! It's backed by Alfa SA.
- I asked what card attracted the most attention on the road & they said the i8 & GTR; even through the Nissan is 7 yrs old it still gets so much attention.
