Saw a billboard for this, this morning. Seems like a worthwhile product.

Anyone use/d them before?

Would like some opinions on it as well

Sounds fine if you're doing high mileage every month. Otherwise pricey. Would be interesting to hear if anything is excluded from the service. e.g. will they replace the gearbox if it breaks?

Make that *very* high mileage. I reckon you'd need to be doing at least 3,750km per month for it to be the least bit worthwhile. That's assuming your services would be in excess of R1,000 every service.

Well they quoted me R540 p/m for the comprehensive plan and I do about 1500km a month. It works out to R6480 p/y and the only things excluded are body, upholstery, tires, shocks, windscreens and windows, radios, vehicle keys and lock mechanism, exhaust and accident damages.

What did the last four services on your car cost? Bear in mind, you're paying R5,400 for 10 months, and then your car will be serviced. That's a lot of parts and labour...

Cant remember the last 4. Last service was R2500 for parts with 20% that excluded labour and oil. So I reckon it wouldve been R4.5k easily.

Ouch! What car are you driving, and what was done in the service? Basically, with CarMed, you're going to be paying a premium for peace of mind. If something really bad happens mechanically, then it sounds like you're covered. My services are less than R500, so for me it would be far too expensive.

Anyone know what I can take out to specifically cover just my engine in the event that it goes I get a new one type thing?

I don't know. Could be fair, to be honest I don't know what car parts for that car would cost. And the price of spares varies hugely based on the location of the shop. With that said, R4,500 for that service sounds hefty.

Best quality oil, 5l, maybe R250 (I buy el cheapo for R100). Air filter, R50. Oil filter, R50 (could be more for an Audi?). Spark plugs, R25 each. Wiper blades, R100. Brake fluid service? Maybe they bleed the system and top up the fluid, R50. Fuel filter, could be pricey, but for 1.4i cars the filter costs R125.

I service my car myself. Tired of being raped. But, if you're always going to take your car in, and that's what a basic service costs, then maybe something like carmed would be perfect.

quality oil you looking at more R100 a litre, quality spark plugs can also be very pricey.

Castrol 20W/50, 5 litres for R100 (on special though, bought 15 litres). Obviously the Audi will need slightly different oil... What other spark plugs are there? I always get the ones in the yellow box.

Mobil 1 0W40 Synthetic Oil is about R150 a litre now

The Bosch OEM sparkplugs I had fitted are R140 each

Well one can always look at the service hollard is offering as well but I dunno if it includes services as well but I know they cover major damage like gearbox, engine, aircon etc. So maybe have a look at dat
